Any others out there get violently ill from Pizza Hut? I mean, please-just-let-me-die-right-this-instant sick? :scared:
Let me tell ya, it stinks because I crave the breadsticks n wings like madness!! Two of my coworkers have had the same reaction as me --one of the nurses actually wound up in the er she was so sick -- and, the more I talk to people about it the more I hear of reactions like this. Some say it's whatever they use to spray the pans, who knows :confused3
Who else is allergic to things they actually love to eat? (I'm also allergic to lobster, and live in Maine ;);) )

I don't know if it's an allergic reaction, or not, but I've heard of this before. I love Pizza Hut, and have never had problems, but I have friends who cringe at the mere suggestion of it. They say things like, "My stomach won't take that," or, "so long as we're near a bathroom." :confused3

Interesting to know this is something that is not limited to our area. I figured it was just the amount of butter/spray they use in their pans that is disagreeable to some peoples' digestive systems.

Right, I don't know if "allergic" was the right term to use or not. I recall researching their ingredients and they use a different type of oil, and I can't think of what it was. It took me two times to figure out that it made me sick :rotfl2: The first time I thought maybe it was just a fluke.

I've never had an issue with Pizza Hut and I do have a *delicate* digestive system. However, for years I had violent reactions to pizza at Pizzeria Uno. I couldn't even make it home from the restaurant without having horrible intestinal cramps followed by hours of sitting on the toilet. Oh, it was awful and painful. After 3-4 times in a row, I won't even set foot in there. I never, ever figured out what it was.

Certain things at Pizza Hut make my husband have intestinal issues. Since having my gall bladder out, I can't eat eggs. Drives me bonkers because I LOVE omelettes.

I won't really eat it any more either. I used to. But honestly, the oil/grease practically drips off it. It does seem like it's what they put on the pan - not necessarily the ingredients on top. (Unless it's covered in pepperoni - then you get that anyway.) Basically the "bread" part, is very very oily/greasy. Makes my stomach cringe just thinking about it. :sad2:

.

I worked at Pizza Hut when I was in college. What they do it they oil the pans and then put the frozen crust in the pan. they it goes into a fridge until it thaws, then they proof it, they it get used. I thought the oil was regular vegetable oil though?

I can't eat at PH without getting sick. I don't know what it is, but as others have said, totally doesn't agree with me.

A funny aside, I was in India this spring with some friends. 99% of the time we were eating with the locals (interesting at times!) We were in a city one day and saw a Pizza Hut and decided maybe we deserved a little break from all that culture. {And I'm thinking surely Indian PH are different and/or my gut has built up a resistance after all the other stuff I'd been eating.

We ate food we had no clue what it was, sometimes in places with questionable sanitation, got served "bottled" water we knew was from the tap and just finally learned to overlook the grossness of some places we had to walk.
And the only time I got sick the whole trip- eating at Pizza Hut!!

no issues for me there.....but Taco Bell has been known to cause me some fun.

Well not with Pizza Hut and I don't think I would call it an allergic reaction but Taco Bell definitely does not agree with my system.

We call that a food intolerance.

What causes it for several members of our family at pizza hut is the canola oil they use. It is listed as vegetable oil, but if you investigate further their veg oil is canola (which is a not actually a vegetable)

The breadsticks in particulat have alot, because the "butter" that they use is a canola based margarine.

We call it the pizza hut diet plan, all the taste non of the calories.

I have the sensitive stomach in the family but I can tolerate Pizza Hut just fine. Hubby however, who has the cast iron stomach...he can eat buckets of grease, unknown objects that may or may not have fungus growing on it...he gets the runs from Pizza Hut. He cringes when I suggest it for a meal. LOL LOL

I would have your gall bladder checked. I used to have issues with PH, too. It was my gall bladder! Or maybe you have a gluten allergy?

I love their breadsticks too. Crave them all the time!

I had my gallbladder out and certain cheese will cause me to run to the nearest bathroom. I don't think I have had any problems with Pizza Hut, but I will watch out next time I do!

No problems with Pizza Hut, and I have Crohn's. Papa John's is the problem here.
