Pixie Dust & Wishes! I've gone insane!10/25 We're home!!! :(

Well, hello everyone and welcome!!

I said I wasn’t going to do a PTR. But, alas, with just 19 days to go until the fateful day arrives here we are!

First, before we truly get started I shall explain the title! Pixie Dust and Wishes! Apparently I’ve Gone Insane!

The Pixie Dust and Wishes are my hopes and dreams for a fabulous, wonderful trip! I’m hoping I can pull this trip off with a hitch!

I’m pretty sure I can succeed!!

Apparently I’ve Gone Insane takes a little more explanation. I’ll try to make it as short as possible. In all of our trips to WDW, 13 for me, DH’s parents have been with us 5 times, I think. It’s always been all good. Having MIL around to help me out with the kiddos has been terrific! In fact, the first several times we went, we went together. The first time we went without them I was extremely nervous about what the result would be without MIL to help me!

But, last December we took another group trip. My family of 5, MIL and FIL, SIL, her DH and their little girl!

When I say the trip didn’t exactly go as planned, I’m understating it. A LOT! So much so that I started my TR and just really didn’t feel like writing it because I didn’t really want to write an entire TR based on how annoying my family was! LOL!

A lot of the issues lied with SIL and BIL. Those issues caused issues with MIL and FIL.

FIL himself, was also an issue. But, I’m hoping so careful planning and work can help negate those issues!

We invited MIL and FIL along on the trip because the kiddos realllllly wanted them to join us! But, I'm truly wondering, and nervous, that this might not be more trouble! Have I completely gone insane for inviting them along?! Not sure...


I just hope that we have a trip like trips past, not December 2010!

ETA - I got a minute to read! Ooooh boy. I hope it is NOT a repeat of December 2010! With BIL & SIL out of the equation, I think you are more likely to have a smoother trip.

My family did a MIL and SIL (FIL had passed that year) so we thought it was a good idea. Take them to the place that makes us so happy. We booked to rooms at WL.(8of us total) Did I also say my DD brought her best friend alone too.

It was also December(06) maybe it's the December thing. Well everyone was going soomth just not the SIL. We is an adult but was acting like a child. Not like woo hoo all my problems are left behind...like a 3 year old. That just made me so mad. I yelled at her in the line at RNRC. Not a good site.

So any way I would take my MIL again no problem but never my SIL.

Well little missy - you've been off the DIS boards all summer and now you are trying to sneak in a PTR just weeks before your trip!

I am sure you and the family are going to have a wonderful, drama free time! I only wish I was going at the same time. I hope you have wonderful, fabulous DIS meets and salt free b@@bs during your travels to the Ditch!

Yes, yes I am

I wish you were going too! But this is why we have to do F&W next year!!!! I'm already thinking about how much I'm going to enjoy that trip!!!

And yes, I'm hopeful to avoid salt on any body parts. Although last Oct during F&W DH and I were making our way through WS on our way to meet Christine at Via Napoli. We stopped in France for Slushies and kept going. Some drunk dude ran into me and spilled 1/2 of down my shirt! So, maybe it's me, WS and alcohol!!! All I know is that Cosmo Slushie has my name all over it!

Ahhhhhahahhaaha!!! ME I laughed right out loud to this!!!

I shall keep moving right along with the cast of characters!

I guess I’ll start with myself! Melissa!



I am basically a stay at home mom, but I very recently became a Disney Travel Agent! Which I’m super excited about! I love all things Disney, I have for as long as I can remember! I favorite character is Mickey, especially Sorcerer Mickey. My favorite princess is Cinderella. I also enjoy reading, scrapbooking and anything else crafty!

Next is my fabulous DH, John!


I love this picture because it shows the true DH

He is an engineer, he owns his own business with FIL. He tries to pretend he’s not a huge Disney fan. But, I know the truth! He’s really a kid at heart! He loves sports, both playing and watching.

Next is our 10 year old DD, Dorothy!



She is smart and fabulous! She has loved Disney since before her first trip! In fact, at the being of this school year she had to write an “about me” poem. He poem said she wants to be CEO of Disney World when she grows up! That’s my girl! She loves Mickey and Minnie, and all the Winnie the Pooh characters!

Moving on to our 8, almost 9, year old DS, Johnny!!



He is adorable, fun and very laid back! He loves having fun at WDW and is very much looking forward to riding the new Star Tours! He is a HUGE Star Wars fan! He can spend hours and hours on end on his legos! He loves Sorcerer Mickey just like his Mommy!

Next will be 4 year old DS Ryan!



He is high energy, funny and precocious! The things he comes out with never cease to amaze us! He LOVES Tigger, I think because they seem to have very similar personalities and tendencies! LOL! He also LOVE Pirates (both POTC and Jack and the Neverland Pirates), Toy Story and is developing a love Star Wars! He just started pre-k and HATES it! I think he hates that I leave, not the actual school part! He loves the fact that when we go on this trip all the other kids will still be in school! LOL!


Now I’ll move on to MIL!


MIL and FIL at their 40th anniversary party a few years ago!

MIL is the nicest, sweetest person in the entire world! That can sometimes get her in trouble She adores her grandkids and they adore her! I can’t say enough about how lucky I am to have her for a MIL! She truly enjoys seeing her Grandkids have a great time at WDW!

Last, but not least, is FIL!



FIL is gregarious, crazy and fun loving! That can sometimes get him in trouble He can also be a little cranky and ornery. He is DH’s business partner. One of the highlights of our trip last December was that, as you can see from the picture, he was chosen to be Davey Crockett’s Angel at Hoop De Doo Musical Revue!!! It was amazingly funny!!!

So, that’s our crazy cast! 7 in all! 7 different personalities, 7 different wants and needs! Ahhh, pixie dust and wishes...

I just started the Disney Travel Agent job last week so I'm very new to it! But it's very cool so far!!!

DD is definitely the most likely to throw a fit! She's getting into that pre-teen bratty, crankiness! She's an absolutely fabulous kid but can be a real pip sometimes! The boys are mostly easy and go with the flow!

Plans, plans, plans! Those of you who know me, know that I am obsessive about my Disney planning! I don’t know why but I have this irrational mindset that I need to make everything as perfect as possible!

Notice I said “as perfect as possible,” you all should be extremely proud of me for saying that! The one thing that our trip last December taught me was that there really is no perfect and sometime I just need to let it go! I’m trying to let stuff go, I really am! It’s not always easy!

I must say, my trip in May with several FABULOUS dis-ladies also taught me a few things that I’ll be utilizing on this trip as well! The biggest thing is to relax and make this vacation an actual vacation!! In May I spent hours and hours poolside just relaxing, park time was spent leisurely touring. I came home feeling like I had actually been on an honest to goodness vacation! Granted, I was without the 3 little ones but I’m sure that is somewhat achievable with kids in tow! Especially 3 kids who have been to WDW as many times as mine have

So without further adieu I give you my plans; day 1!!

Saturday, October 15th!
*5 – 5:15 am leave home for airport! The airport is about 40 minutes from my house so I’m leaning toward 5:15ish to leave! Ryan thinks it’s absolutely the coolest thing ever that we are going to be leaving home when it’s dark. We always leave on the first flight from our airport to Orlando but I guess he doesn’t remember that! LOL!


*7:15 take off! Woo hoo!!!

*10:10 am land @ MCO, we are taking Happy Limo from and to the airport. FIL wasn’t to fond of ME last Dec. I believe he likened it to being herded like cattle and wondered aloud “why the heck would we want to stand in line like this at the beginning of a vacation full of lines!?” Perhaps I should have taken that as I clue as to how the vacation was going to go!

*Check-in to BLT, get a birthday button for DS8! His birthday is 11/11, so we will be celebrating a bit early! But, it’s all good! Anyway, we will be staying in a dedicated 2 bedroom, lake view. I put in request for an even numbered room! Strange request? Well, the rooms on the front of the building are all even numbered and the rooms on the back on the building odd numbered. An odd numbered room potential puts you with a view directly across at another room, because your on the inside of the c shape. Make sense? I’d prefer not to look across at other people. I won’t be terribly offended if we don’t get our request and it won’t ruin our vacation. But, I’d be happier with a different view. A room with an even # puts us on the outside of the c and either puts you with a view of Bay Lake, The Contemporary, WL, a distant Epcot and DTD like DH and I had last October ,or, if your lucky enough to be choice rooms on the north end of the building like MEK was on her stay at BLT last year, with a view of Bay Lake to the right and MK to the left! We shall see! After checking in, assuming our room isn’t ready, we will,

*Head to MK! No specific plans, but Ryan DS4, is in charge of picking the first ride this trip! He keeps going back and forth between Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin and POTC! If “Goofy’s Roller Coaster” was still there he would have picked that. It took me months and the use of numerous tissues to dry tears to convince him that “Goofy’s Roller Coaster” is no longer there! I’m working on getting him on BTMRR!

*When our room is ready I’m sure we’ll head back for rest and perhaps the pools, depending on timing. Then it will be time for dinner!

*7 pm Chef Mickey’s! I still have to order a cake for DS! I’m trying to decide what to get him! I’ve been scanning the cake chatter thread for a few days looking for ideas. I’d really like something Sorcerer Mickey themed but haven’t found anything!

*After dinner we head back to our room for bed after a very early morning! Wishes is @ 9 perhaps DH and I can sneak off to the Top of the World Lounge for a drink or 2 good viewing! We shall see!
