No, we didn't win the cruise! We were at WDW from 7/4-7/12. MGM is our favorite park, and we spent part of three different days there. We went to WWTBAM on our first day at MGM, and the fastest finger question was to put the four words in order to form the title of a John Steinbeck novel: The Grapes of Wrath. Obviously with a lucky guess, my 8 year old DS got the fastest correct response! He bounded down to the hotseat! When the host explained that the rules permit anyone under 10 to have someone come down and help them, he responded that he wanted to do it on his own! The host was very nice and "helped" him with the 1000 point question. He made it a couple questions further before getting the 8000 point question wrong.
On our 2nd day at MGM, a hot seat contestant got the queston wrong and they checked the scoreboard to see who had the highest score. It was my 12 year old DD! She went down to the hot seat and I believe made it to the 4000 point question. On our last day, my 14 year old DS got the fastest finger question right. I believe he also made it to the 4000 point question. At a second show that day, my 8 year old DS got the fastest finger question right again! He didn't go back into the hotseat again because of the 30 day rule. What fun it was for all three of them to get into the hotseat!
One piece of advice: Just guess on the fastest finger question! There isn't time to try to figure it out because someone else will guess correctly!

How fun for them ! That is how I accidentally ended up in the hotseat(made it to 64000 and quit !). Then last trip(only 3rd time in that show) I was number 1 at the end of the show! Yikes. I was relieved it was over with. How brave of your 8 yr old to do it alone-I wished I could have had someone with me-it is scary in that seat ! I am sure they got looks with all 3 in the 1000 pt hats!

Congratulations to your children. I have been on the hot seat six times and have never made in there by means on the fastest finger. In fact noone in my family has ever made it to the hot seat on the fastest finger question.

On our first trip to WDW after WWTBAM-PI opened, my the 15 year old DS made it to the hot seat and lost on the 500,000 point question. My middle child made it to the hot seat the next day and lost on the 250,000 point question. I then made it to the hot seat on the next day and then again on the day after (this was before the stupid 30 day rule).

Getting on the hot seat is a blast. You are correct, the only way to make it to the hotseat on the fastest finger question is to put a pre-selected set of buttoms as fast as possible. We usually divide the combinations among our group so that we do not duplicate.

They were out of the 1000 point hats or it would have been fun to have them all wear them. It will be fun to get the package with all the hats when they arrive!
