Not being mean hear or trying to stir the pot, but I would buy that if it was her first trip. But she mentioned at the start of her original post:
"Every Other trip we have been on, to Disney we have always gotten park hopper tickets. We usually use them on Animal kingdom day, and then again on our last day, to hop and just ride our faves, on the last day. Works well. "
So to me this means she has been before and knows the difference between park hopper tickets and non hopper tickets.
This is a very common mistake. (Thinking you can purchase tickets for more park days than you actually plan to be there, and then using the extras to visit multiple parks in one day)

I kind of think the op should be ashamed of herself. Pay for the ticket or don't go in. I would have said, 'my mistake' and walked Away or taken out my wallet -- not stood there blubbering and putting the cm in a very uncomfortable position..
As an accountant, I would LOVE to see how Disney does their accounting. I know we, as a regular normal business, have an account set up for "contingencies". It's $25K and it just sits there on the balance sheet and waits to be used. I'm sure Disney's is in the millions if not more. It's a normal process used by companies all over the world. It doesn't drive up prices because it's on the balance sheet and it does NOT hit the income statement. It's a fund set aside where things like this go. So you can take all your talks about profits being hit and move those off the discussion because these things NEVER hit profits.

Wow. Just wow.
Where in ops post did it say she stood there blubbering? She said she was near tears and that the ticket girl seemed upset for her and that she was collecting her bags to leave after going through her different options.
I guess if the ticket cm had offered you three tickets, you would have refused and just dragged your kids off, being too proud to let someone help you out.

as far as the crying is concerned (or near tears):
I cry at the drop of a hat.. can't help it. the owner of the restaurant yells at me, my eyes tear up (a lot of yelling goes on behind the scenes). a touching tv commercial, I cry..
the time I forgot our water park tickets in the room, I cried all the way back on the bus.
I don't think it's very nice to imply that she cried on purpose. believe me, she was probably trying her best to fight back the tears.

You're so lucky! We were there in October and the same thing happened to us. However, we didn't add the extra day until our last day. We are ticket newbies (only ever buying 2-day tickets in the past). We confirmed with the CM at out hotel that we could use the extra ticket that night for MK despite having gone to EP earlier in the day and she said yes. We didn't tell our son it was possible until we got there. Lo and behold, our tix didn't work either. DS was balling his eyes out, our last night there and it was already 8pm. The CM at MK customer service was the rudest Disney employee I have EVER met. She refused to listen to our story (it was a Disney CM who said we could use the tix), said we could only get in by upgrading to hoppers ($175), and refused to give us our money back for the extra day we purchased because my husband wrote our reason for requesting the refund on the form. We left extremely disappointed and wrote to Disney when we got home. They called within a week and apologized and gave us 2-day hoppers for our next trip. Alls well that ends well, but it certainly left a bad taste in our mouths on the last day of our very expensive, first Disney resort stay, vacation.
I rarely cry. And I am completely confident that there are people who, after seeing this thread, will go to WDW and eek out a few crocodile tears to get free tickets.as far as the crying is concerned (or near tears):

But I know that there are people who will, genuinely, cry over things like Disney tickets and commercials and soggy spaghetti. Well, maybe not soggy spaghetti, but some people are very emotional.
Not everyone who cries is looking to get something for nothing. Some people just cry easily.
