Pixie Dust Request

I haven't posted in here for the longest time, but we need all of the pixie dust that can be mustered (yes I know about teh disabilites forum but I like ya'll too! ).

My only child, who's 10 has been diagnosed with a hideous disease called gastroparesis---he reported his pain level to be a 9 out of 10 yesterday. He threw up for over four months starting in January w/ constant retching---ER trips, surgeries, long story short, his quality of life has diminished a great deal and I can not tell you as his mom what it is like to witness this or his suffering. Anyway, we are trying to creat memories and we are coming to WDW next week---BUT this latest relapse may make us cancel the trip.... Even if we can get him there, he may have to eat only smoothies and gatorade and MAYBE some soda crackers...it's all too much (I have the Wishes dessert party reserved, but it will be almost cruel for him now, ya know?!)~~~Ugh, so if you can wish us some luck and better days, I'd be grateful.

You got it -- I'm sending every stinkin' ounce of pixie dust I can muster!!! So sorry your son is going through such a horrible ordeal. Anytime we see our children suffer, so do we...so I know it's just as hard on the rest of your family too. I've got my fingers crossed that you don't have to cancel the WDW trip.

oh boy i cant imagine..do all ur research, there has to be something, if no cure, that has worked for other children and adults?? be a pest, find specialists until u find one that has an answer. dont give up. we are our childs advocate. i am saying a prayer for you and your child that you overcome this .-this too shall pass. please keep us posted. these forums are the best place for answers when we cant seem to find them any place else. sending good energy ur way

I don't know anything about this illness but did a quick mayo clinic search and am so sorry for what you and your son are going through! Hopefully the doc can give him some meds for the trip so you don't have to cancel. It sounds like some Disney magic is exactly what your family needs. Pixie dust heading your way!

I am so sorry to hear of the pain and suffering of your little one - I am sure as a mom it has to be so difficult to watch.

I really hope you can make the trip and give you all something pleasant to think about. And hey, even if all he can eat are crackers and smoothies - at least he will be in Disneyworld! so they will be special, all the same!

I hope thing work out for you! As the OP said, be a pest, annoy the doctors until you get answers. When my daughter went through a challenging (to say the least..) infantcy, the nurses at our peds office all knew our names.....Don't stop calling until you get answers or referred to someone else who can help you!! Good luck to you and your son!
