I have never done this on the boards, but this is special.

I have a little cousin who is four and is undergoing cancer treatment. He is at St. Judes - and he is not doing well at all. The prognosis is pretty grim and has been from the start (this type of cancer has over a 90% mortality rate from what we have been told). Anyway, he is really struggling.

Today, they are harvesting stem cells to attempt a stem cell replacement. He has been sedated so much, that they can't keep him sedated and the procedure is 12 hours. His blood counts are staying dangerously low due to the massive chemo he has been taking - he has had two transfusions I know of in the past couple of weeks. They had intended to wait on the stem cell thing, but have felt the need to push it up due to the progression of his cancer.

They have a website if you want to check it out and there are some pictures of him at http://www.woodlawnbaptistchurch.org/location.php (their website link is below the picture of Noah). - EDITED

So please send well thoughts to little Noah and thanks.

I will keep him in my prayers. And will add him to my 21 month year old daughters as well.... God Bless Noah and Mommy and Daddy and...... :)

Hope things go well, and he responds to the treatments!! :grouphug:

Just an update...I just talked to my Dad (who just talked to my Aunt). Noah came through the stem cell harvesting okay, but they kept him in the hospital because they are concerned they might not have gotten enough stem cells to grow them. They may have to repeat the procedure tomorrow (please, God, no).

Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts. You are all a very special bunch of people!

Much prayers & pixie dust to you and to Noah!! You know you all will be in my thoughts and prayers!

:wizard: :grouphug:

:grouphug: :grouphug: Big hugs for all touched by this situation. Tons and tons of prayers and pixie dust for Noah.

sending lots and lots of prayers and pixie dust to you and your family. :wizard: :grouphug:
why oh why do little kids have to go thru this??? or anyone? it's just not fair.

my thoughts will be with you! :wizard:

I wanted to let everyone know how Noah's weekend went. He got to come home for a couple of days. They did get enough stem cells last week. He also had two or three ct scans and a bone marrow test.

Today he starts his strongest chemo yet (but not nearly as strong as it will be prior to bone marrow re-introduction). This has to be done inpatient it is so strong. They have warned my cousin that he will be very sick this time.

As to the rest of the family, my aunt (Noah's grandmother) told me Saturday that it his little brother, who is three, is exhibiting anger issues and having severe seperation anxiety whenever anyone leaves him now. He simply doesn't understand why Mommy is gone all the time. My aunt also works at the school where Noah was supposed to start this week. She said it was so hard to go in to his classroom knowing that he isn't there.

Thanks for all your prayers. That means so much to the family.

More prayers and pixie dust coming your way, you are all in my thoughts each day.
