Pixie dust on our DREAM vacation! Update 06/08 TR finished!!

Day 5, February 22

„You guys are on a very tight schedule!“ - Part 5

After enjoying the snack we decided to walk around the ship a bit more and take a few more photos.

We made it to the Outlook Café,

DSC_0840.jpg

but it was closed for a private party, then walked to Goofy’s Mini golf area.

We visited Currents

and the adult pool area

and finally headed back to our stateroom to fill out the customer comment card.
It was fun walking around the ship in the evening, as most people seemed to either be at dinner or at one of the shows. It was getting towards our dinner time as well, so we headed back to our stateroom.

At 8 we walked downstairs to the Royal Palace. Finally we all got to dine together again.

To be continued ..........

I Love all of the evening photo's Karin. It is amazing how quite the deck was at that time of night!!!

Karin, just love all of your evening photos -- so pretty. I just think that Goofy Mini-Golf is a hoot.

All your pictures make it seem as though there is no one else on the ship! What a peaceful looking evening. :goodvibes

You would never guess that this was a sold out cruise with about 4000 guests on board, would you? :goodvibes
But it was also the time during which the first dining was in session and the show was on, so many people would have been there. ;)

We just love to explore at night, great photo ops and it is nice and quiet. The ships itself are just so beautiful, so there is always something to take a photo of. :lmao:
Can you imagine that this was the first time we really checked out the Mini Golf? It was so much fun to explore it in detail. :thumbsup2

While the first dining is on and the show, that is the best time to have the ship to "yourself". ;)
We love that time of day, makes you forget that the ship was sold out and there were about 4000 guests on board. :lmao:

Loved the pix !!Which is your favorite restaurant of the rotation!!!!????

Glad you enjoyed them, Rosie! :goodvibes
As for the restaurants - if it is about the food, we both like all three. If it comes for ambience, my least favourite is Animators Palete. With all the animation going on it tends to get very loud.
My least favourite menu is the Pirate night one. I really have trouble finding something that I truly like, so this is usually our Remy or Palo night. ;) :goodvibes

Day 5, February 22

„You guys are on a very tight schedule!“ - Part 6

At 8 we walked downstairs to the Royal Palace. Finally we all got to dine together again.
We talked to Robin, another DISboard member who was part of our Fish Extender and her lovely daughter Jenna, who mentioned how much she enjoyed the gum we had given her in the Fish Extender.
In the meantime we all ordered our drinks and enjoyed the

IMG_3732.jpg

Warm herb brioche with an olive spread before our starters were served. Tom had ordered

IMG_3737.jpg

The Comtesse Du Barry's Soup, Rich velvety cauliflower cream, topped with salmon caviar croutons and I had ordered my favourite, the

IMG_3735.jpg

Double Baked Spinach Souffle, coated with a three cheese cream. We all enjoyed our starters very much. Between courses we all chatted and had a lot of fun and then we received our main courses.
Tom had the

IMG_3742.jpg

IMG_3740.jpg

Double Cut Rack of Lamb with a Dijon Crust, with fine green beans, gratin potatoes and rosemary jus. I had the

IMG_3738.jpg

Roasted Wild Boar Tenderloin, Sweet carrot and onion potato cake with a red currant reduction, which Ana had recommended.
Again, we all enjoyed our main courses. Next up was dessert. Again, Tom ordered his favourite, the

IMG_3743.jpg

IMG_3744.jpg

IMG_3745.jpg

Grand Marnier Souffle, infused with fresh orange zest and served with creme Anglaise. And I ordered something that I had enjoyed on a previous cruise as well, the

IMG_3746.jpg

Peanut Butter Mousse, dark chocolate infused with peanut butter, chiffon cake, and whipped cream. After we had all enjoyed dessert we had a little fun with our servers, pictures were taken

IMG_3750.jpg

IMG_3749.jpg

IMG_3748.jpg

and even Matija came over to be introduced to the rest of our table

IMG_3747.jpg

and then to say goodbye.
We all had a little more packing to do and then put our luggage outside, so when they started preparing the tables for breakfast we knew it was about time to say goodbye and leave.

Tom and I were tired and headed back to our stateroom, checked the room again, then packed our dinner clothes into the bags and put them outside. We still had some drinks in the fridge and so we both grabbed one and sat outside on the veranda, going over the last four days.
It had been a wonderful cruise and even though it had been packed with things to do we felt relaxed and happy.
Around 11pm we called it a night and went to bed for the last sleep on board the Disney DREAM for this cruise.

To be continued ..........

I love nighttime shots on the ship...It is just so beautiful.....Is in November yet? :rotfl:

I loved the souffle too. I can't wait to have it again.

Beautiful photos, Karin! Always enjoy the gift you have for the larger scope, yet also have a wonderful eye for details. Beautiful!

:rotfl: While everyone else looks at those wonderful photos and thinks how lovely the Ship looks in the evening...all I can think is look at all the blackness and how easy it would be to fall off into the ocean!:faint:

Such nice happy people in every photo! ::yes::

Oh Christine:rotfl2:You sound just like Carol !!I cannot get her on a cruise to save my life !!Of course she also said NO to the Wagon Train and the Luxury Tent in Texas:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Karin which meal is Pirate's Night and do you have a link to the menu ?? I doubt we will be buying the other restaurants so it could be a deck supper !!!!

I would LOVE the Wagon Train and Luxury Tent! Would do that one in a heartbeat! :cool1:

Hey, I did offer to go on a cruise with you, Karin & Tom to celebrate our 70th! ::yes::

I am really enjoying your report and all your great pictures! It is inspiring me to write a report after our first cruise on the Dream. We don't sail until February so I have plenty of time to spend on the dis reading reports.

We got some really nice nighttime shots this time and we seemed to have picked the perfect time to do so ..... the ship was empty.
Oh, and before it will be November ....... I need AUGUST to roll around here quickly and then STAY!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

I have yet to try that souffle. Tom always orders it and the peanut butter mousse calls MY name! :lmao:

Thank you, Christine! I am so glad you enjoy the photos!

I think you would really have to "push" yourself to fall off that ship - the safety handrails are pretty high. :lmao:

Rosie, it depends on which itinerary you are going to have, but as far as I can remember it was always on the third night.

And here is the link to the Pirate Menu:

But honestly - since this is going to be your first Disney cruise, I would NOT change or do any other dining than the main dining room. Every evening it will be a different experience and you are missing out on a lot if you have dinner somewhere else. ;) :thumbsup2

Day 6, February 23

„You know, it takes six hours to clean a room!“ - Part 1

Disembarkation day had dawned. :scared1: :sad2:
When I first woke up we were pulling into Port Canaveral, but I went back to sleep and when we finally got up the ship was sitting in the harbour. Tom and I went to have one last rainforest shower and then tried to pack up the rest of the stuff. We still had time until our breakfast at the Royal Palace so, to kill time we walked up to Cabanas to check out their breakfast.
The offerings were nice and Tom got

IMG_3758.jpg

a plate full of hot breakfast, while I got

IMG_3759.jpg

two chocolate croissants. We got some

IMG_3761.jpg

juice and coffee and tea and started on our first breakfast. Funnily enough on the table next to us was another family that had been in our Fish Extender group. We chatted a while, while enjoying our breakfast until it was time for us to return to our stateroom.
Another walk through the room, checking every drawer again, before we said goodbye to stateroom 10626 until August 2012. We went to the Royal Garden, found our table and stored our luggage in the corner. Dania, Jimmy and Alex were missing for breakfast, but luckily enough we will sail with them again in February 2013! We all ordered our drinks and breakfast fare and soon enough

IMG_3763.jpg

coffee and

IMG_3762.jpg

tea were served and then our breakfast was delivered. Tom had the

IMG_3765.jpg

IMG_3766.jpg

Chef's Farewell, a large open faced omelet topped with barbecued chicken, green peppers, onions and melted swiss cheese which he enjoyed very much. I had ordered the

IMG_3764.jpg

Route 66, scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled sausage, grilled ham and hash browns.
All too soon we had all finished our breakfast and it was time for goodbyes. Everyone hugged and we promised Ana to be back next February. Then all that was left to do was to pick up our carry ones and join the other cruisers leaving the ship. We walked off, signed off and went down the escalator. We had a porter help us with our luggage and it didn’t take long until we had gone through the line and walked up to the immigration officer.
Once we were done we walked over to the parking lot and up to our level. After tipping the porter we loaded everything into the car and started our drive towards the exit. On the last level we met the DVC rep again and we stopped and said goodbye again.
But then it was time to wave goodbye to the DREAM

IMG_3767.jpg

IMG_3769.jpg

and even though it was sad to leave that beautiful ship behind, at least we knew we had four more cruises planned for the next two years. In no time we were on our way back to Walt Disney World and around 10.30am we had made it to that well loved arch, passed under it and were on our way to the Contemporary Resort.
At the guardhouse we showed our reservation, were welcomed home for the very first time and drove to the short term parking, just to check in. I had done online check in and let them know we would arrive early, but I knew I was hoping against all odds that the room would be ready by now.

To be continued ..........

Two Breakfast, now that's my idea of perfect !!!!!The final morning seems to have gone perfectly!!I can't wait till I hear for sure that the May Cruise is on and that itis the Dream !!!I will be recruiting travellers this year, of course I am selective;):rotfl2:I have to repeaters going to Universal in September !!!:banana:

The Grand Marnier Souffle is so yummy...the best dessert! :thumbsup2 I love your night pictures...looks so quiet and calm. Being up on deck at night is a little scarey. Scott & I went to play mini golf around midnight and just looking out at sea is scarey. Rachel & Emmanuela were on Deck 12 after midnight and Rachel got freaked out because she couldn't see anything and went back into the vibe.

It was fun to try both breakfasts, especially since we only had to walk up one flight of stairs to get to Cabanas. ;) ... And we had lots of time to kill. :lmao:
Can't wait until you find out your dates!

Tom always seems to get the Grand Marnier Souffle  ... I have yet to get it for myself, but maybe this summer. ;)
I never found the sea scary at night, on the contrary, I love how peaceful everything is. :goodvibes
Then, we have not been up there after midnight and we always went up together. ;)
