I put a request into DU last night for an AP rate, and haven't heard back yet

I realize it hasn't been 24 hours yet, but I can't help it.... I have this sinking feeling I missed the boat

Quite a few people have posted today that they couldn't get an AP rate through the DU, but if they called and made a new reservation, they could.

I called and got an AP rate on my stay today, even though I couldn't get it yesterday. So, there is still hope. And if you don't get it the first time, keep trying!

Yesterday was a whirlwind of emotion, I felt like Dorothy from Oz, lol!

I was kinda shooting for a value or moderate resort, but DU came through with the AKL for $109/night! That's an incredible rate, considering it's approximately a third of the rack rate.

However, it's at least $300 (total) more than I was planning on spending. I haven't committed yet; DU has a courtesy hold on my reservation.

What do you all think? Should I go for it?

If it were me, I'd go with the $109 rate at AKL. That's a steal.

Go for AKL at $109 a night. Even if it is a standard view it is much better than getting a moderate. Besides, AKL is a really nice hotel, and for that rate you can't go wrong!

If you can afford it, go with the AKL. It is our favorite resort. The aroma around the resort is great and breakfast at Bomas YUMMY.

AKL!!!!! We got the $109.00 rate last Feb. at AKL and had such an awesome time!! If it falls in your budget go for it! It is a wonderful resort.

We will be celebrating our 16th wedding anniversary this trip. I can't describe how excited I am.

I always wanted to have breakfast at Boma and dinner at Jiko, but just never got over there. Now I will! As a matter of fact, I think we will have our anniversary dinner at Jiko.

OK I've got to stop now, because my eyes are so filled with tears that I can barely see what I'm typing, lol.

Congrats on that big 16th anniversary (we just celebrated our 16th 2 weeks ago)! I don't think you'll regret splurging and staying AKL -- you deserve it...ENJOY!

I know how you feel ! Since you mentioned that the $109 rate is about 1/3 of rack rate my guess is that you are going in "holiday" season. If so, we will see you there ! I booked the same rate over New Years friday afternoon after work. This rate is sooo good that once I receive my written confirmation I will be cancelling an OKW 1-br. dvc stay. We have always wanted to try a stay at the lodge, and we just couldn't pass up this opportunity.

BTW, we will also be there to celebrate an anniversary, our 20th. We picked a different location to eat, though - since NYE is our anniversary we want to do Le Cellier in Epcot, then stick around for the fireworks/Illuminations.

Yes, I am going during "holiday" season.... that's what makes this rate even more incredible!

This will be our 3rd trip this year. By the time my AP expires, we will have 4 trips under our belt with just that one AP!
