So here is what happened. I have a 15dd. She decided to go into independent studies. Four of her friends who are older than her have APs. She wanted one tow. She helps with our business, babysits and does odds and ends jobs to get some money. She had enough for her down payment and 1st month payment. Well she convinced us to let her do the payment plan and went with her friends Monday morning August 29. Well Sunday night I was buying the ticket and doing the payment plan. I put one of our credit cards in her name earlier for emergencies. I know how strict Disneyland is about names and tickets. So I used the credit card in her name to pay for the down payment so she can show the credit card when she gets her ticket. i also put the contract in her name. When I noticed it said 18 or older on the contract, I didnt know what to do. i called but they were already closed. So I just processed everything in her name including the contract. Well needless to say when she went to the ticket booth, there was an issue. Since she was a minor, she could not do the contract. I should of put the contract in my name. So they had to void the contract. Well my daughter started to tear up. So the lady at the ticket booth told her not to worry. The comped her a hopper ticket for the day!!! Amazing. The lady was great. She had the time of her life that day. They told her what I needed to do. So now she is going back this week with family, and I made sure I did it right.

WOW, that is someone that could have ruined everything pulling through and doing the right thing. I'm so glad she was treated so well (I would do something like you did lol)!~

The CM could have ruined everything by following the rules? Sorry, but the OP and her daughter's poor planning put a CM in the position to either break the rules or leave a minor alone outside of the parks. So her daughter cried. That's not pixie dust, that's grifting.

Great story. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think the OP and her daughter did anything wrong, BUT now that the story is out there for others to read...

I mean, heck, even I am thinking of this, and I'm a super-honest person. But I know well that the power of a well timed expression or tear or etc works wonders.

Got nachos as the kitchen closed by saying "aw, really?" with a head tilt (I was only 31 at the time LOL). Got a one-ride FOTL pass at Universal Hollywood in July because a party of ~8 was let in front of me by a Team Member as we were just at the turnstiles and I made a pout face just as the TM turned to explain apologetically (they'd had trouble at the turnstile, had to leave the line, and she was helping them out). DS got a "front of the line" pass at the Long Beach, CA ER after he broke his arm when he got woozy and wobbled as they were about to send us to the chairs to *wait* for triage. A 5'6" kid with a 5'3" mom needs to not get woozy, because she can't catch him easily!

Those things weren't on purpose, nor was the OP's daughter's situation.

But now I've given sneaky people 3 more ways to get things. (I don't recommend breaking your arm and wobbling just to get a quick triage LOL...and it wouldn't have worked if we were coming in later at the time we were leaving, because by then that waiting room was packed with people way worse off than woozy with a broken arm)

No one broke the rules and no one stole anything. The OP made an honest mistake. CM's are allowed to sprinkle pixie dust when warranted, it's part of the Disney magic. Many CM's say it's their favorite part of the job.

Sometimes people make mistakes and sometimes people do nice things.

I'm glad your daughter had a good day!!

Seriously the payment for the AP had been there so they knew she was planning to buy an AP. This was pixie dust that really didn't cost disney anything, becasue honestly someone that wanted an AP was going to come back and get it next time as the OP is saying they will. Nothing was stolen unless you count maybe 2-3 extra days on an AP. Actually no not even that as long as the park day was in Sept and they still get the AP in sept as I believe APs always expire at the end of the month (unless they changed this? I know WDW worked that way when I had an AP there).

However someone who was turned away when someone made a simple mistake may get mad at the company and decide not to buy an AP. that would hurt disney much more.

so lets be honest here Disney has a reason to allow the CMs to do this pixie dust... and the CM was great to do it in this case.

Now I do agree that telling these stories as much as we would love to think just makes the company looks good it does make people want to try to cheat to get the things too. It is a shame that such dishonest people exist in the world.

However its also a shame that people that are so jealous that they accuse someone of stealing when they get something nice GIVEN to them as well.

I love this story! First you tried to do a nice thing for you DD by arranging the AP then the CM did a nice thing by sorting out a mistake so easy to make.

I was very warmed to read this. It cheered my day!
