Pixie Dust at AKL Jambo

Well, we lucked out on our last minute, quick trip for MNSSHP. AKL was really my only choice, since we booked a military discount so late. We had never stayed there, but my ds(4) has mentioned wanting to go there, so I went with a standard view. I did not check-in online and ended up getting there after 8pm Monday night, as we got tangled up in the American Airline shenanigans in DFW. Miserable day of flying and an exhausted boy in tow, we couldn't wait to check-in and be at "home" at Disney. I'm sure we looked rough and worn out at check-in. I had no expectation of getting a savannah view at the standard rate. I know lots of people try to swing that, but really we just wanted to go to bed. The sweet CMs immediately started decking ds out in stickers and tattoos and crowns and then she mentioned she had a partial view available, which just made our trip! Seriously, I always thought it was silly to pay so much more to have a savannah view, but after having that view I would totally pay a premium for it. It was amazing. My ds wanted to watch the animals instead of swimming the next day, which is saying something because swimming is his most favorite thing about WDW. We LOVED AKL. I really wanted a MK area resort for MNSSHP, but AKL was great and we would definitely go back.

The only snafu was the bus situation after the party. We waited FOREVER for a bus. Our queue was packed solid and I think in 45 minutes we had 2 buses show up while all the other resorts had a constant stream of buses. Everyone was tired and grouchy in line, so no one was happy about that.

Overall, we had a great 2 night trip. Can't wait to go back!

and I love the upgrades you sometimes get there. I too was upgraded from a standard view during my stay and LOVED seeing the animals from my room.

Wishing you many more happy AKL visits and improved bus service too.

I'm so excited for you. My DD18 and I just had the opportunity to have a couple of nights at Jambo House and it was amazing. We had a savannah view and we absolutely loved it. I wanna go back .... like soon. :thumbsup2
