Pixie Dust and Prayers

As some of you know I had a brain tumor removed several months ago and my life has gone down hill since then. A couple of months after that we came home to find a notice on our door from the Sheriff dept. stating we had 10 days to vacate the property due to my landlord not paying taxes in over 3 years. I called the Sheriff's office and there was nothing they could do except tell me to pay the back taxes he owed and then we would own the house but we didn't have that kind of money. We were forced to put our stuff in a storage unit and then stay at a local hotel until we could find a new home. Well it's been a few months now, my wife lost her new job due to taking time off to take me to Dr. appts(I can't drive due to loss of vision from the surgery). I knew we would have a new home soon but still nothing, staying in the hotel depleated my entire savings and now live week to week giving the hotel my entire pay check just to have a roof over our heads and now in a bind because I can't save to move out. We ate microwaved turkey for Thanksgiving and now really stressed because we need to be in a home for Christmas. Just want some Pixie and prayers for us. Thank you.

I tried but here in PA the guid lines are tough. They were able to pay most of my medical, thank God because the bill was over $200,000 but as far as anything else I was told I make too much money (i only make $8.00 hr). I'm stuck and don't have any way out.

I am so sorry for all you're going through, I've been hearing about tough times for so many and my heart goes out to all. I pray you get the assistance you need to get back on track and things look up soon. I know this must be a real test of faith, but hang in there.

My DH finally found a job after being out for a long time just as things were getting pretty bleak so there is hope and I pray 2011 will be your year to start looking up.

Encouraging thought being sent your way. And make sure you are taking advantage of all the programs out there, there are a lot but you have to look and ask. Don't eat microwave turkey for Christmas, many churches and service organizations have meals for anyone financially hurting or lonely.

Thank you. There are churches around that do offer Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner but my pride gets in the way. Alot of times I will suffer through it instead of asking for help. I know that's wrong but growing up in a low income family on everything from food stamps to food banks I always promised myself that I would not do the same. Being "homeless" is what bothers me to no end.especially at the holidays.

I do know exactly what you are saying! Believe me it is hard admitting you need help and getting over it and accepting it. I had a lot of trouble doing that.

That is why I added the lonely part, our church always makes a point of including and stressing for folks to come even if they are just lonely and alone on the holiday that it is for the fellowship also and no one should be alone. So not everyone at these meals are homeless.
