I know that some serious pixie dust gets passed around these boards, and I was hoping you could all send some our way.

Here in Colorado, a horrific wildfire started on Monday. They believe it was due to a car colliding with a propane tank. It has now burned 7100 acres and 92 structures, 53 of which were homes. 9 of those homes belonged to the firefighters on the the front lines.

At this point, the fire is not at all contained, and they have no indication as to when it will be contained, due to the weather here. It's creeping closer to some very populated areas and thousands have already been evacuated. Ash can be seen falling hours away from the fire it is so big and the wind is carrying it so bad. Our local news channel said that the smoke plume was even visible from space!

Please pass along your thoughts and prayers for the fire fighters, the people who have lost their homes, and that the weather will be conducive today for them to contain this fire.

Thanks everyone :goodvibes

My thoughts and prayers are going out to those who are in the path of the fire and destruction.

Also, A BIG THANK YOU to all the fire fighters everywhere - you truly are an amazing group :thumbsup2

Good Morning Cathie,

I live in Florida, but we have a second home in Westcliffe, Colorado. I know that is a long way from Boulder, but we are always concerned when Colorado is experiencing large wildfires. I hope everyone is safe and our thoughts are with the residents and emergency responders.

Stay Safe,

ScubaMickey (Linda)

::yes:: I couldn't agree more. They provide such an invaluable service. From what I understand, the management of the fire has been turned over to the federal department and they are bringing in firefighters from other places in the country.

So A HUGE thank you to all of the firefighters out there. More appreciative than I can say.

Thoughts and prayers for all involved.

Oh, dear. I hope everyone stays safe during this. Sending prayers of strength to the firefighters. What a job!
And to all those affected, hope they can claim normalcy in their lives after this terrible upheaval.

Thanks so much for the thoughts and prayers everyone.

It may seem silly to some, especially in comparison to those losing their homes, but this fire is really getting to me personally becasue it is getting very close to the area that we spead my grandma's ashes years ago, and my grandpa's just last year. I wanted to go up and visit the site this summer, but couldn't becasue of my busy schedule. Now I'm hoping I haven't lost the chance. We could always tell the exact spot because of a tree that's there on the edge of the cliff. If that area gets burned, the tree will dissappear and I don't know that we'll be able to find that spot again. It has me a little nervous. And then there's all the people who live up there, and the danger of what could happened if it's not contained. :sad1:

I'm a believer in the power of positive thoughts, especially with all of the requests for it we've seen here on this board, I have no doubt it helps. So it really means a lot to me that you are able to take a moment out of your day to pray for/send a positive vibe to what's going on.

Cathie, I hope everything works out for you. I'm here in Littleton and this fire is unbelievable. I can't believe how quickly it took off and the smoke is incredible. They just reported on the news that 136 homes have been destroyed. That's alot of people that have lost everything. Hope they are able to contain this fire soon.

I have an old classmate/close friend lives right outside Boulder, works in the city. It's very frightening right now.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts!

Mindy it is super scary right now, they have it partially contained, and had even let some of the evacuees back in this morning, but had to make them come back out because the winds this afternoon got up to 50 mph and are supposed to stay that way throughout the night.

At last count I think I saw 150 something homes burned....just so sad. The people I know from Boulder are safe, thank heavens, but my heart really goes out to those who have lost everything.

Thinking of everyone involved :grouphug: Fire is so scary....they are dealing with a tough situation in California right now with a natural gas fire in a subdivision....counting my blessings this morning!
