While we were visiting the MK last year my DD then age 5 who requires O2 was given a Tinkerbell Pin by a CM last year. We were on our way out of the park after the fireworks. It had been a long day and she was crying at the fact we had to turn in the stroller. She knew that ment she would have to walk the long walk to the bus stop for POP or that I would have to carry her and pull her portable oxygen concentrator machine. We asked for a wheelchair to use to the bus stop but since it was the mass exit time they had all been used. This made DD cry more. A very sweet older CM came up to us and gave her the pin. She told her it would help with the tears. We didn't get a chair but another visitor saw what had happened and offered to push her oxygen cart for us. It wasn't a YOMD CM so I know it wasn't one of those kind of gifts, but it sure made all of us teary eyed at the kindness of this CM. I so wish I would have caught her name so I could thank her. Has anyone else seen one of these pins? Is it really more "special" than we even find it to be? We will never part with it because of the circumstances DD was given it, but I was just curious.

Yes, they are special because the only way to get one is the way you describe. However, there are lots of them and you can also see them on CM lanyards. So do what you are doing, cherish the moment and the memory every time you look at that pin.

I'm not sure about the pin, but I was touched by your story. I love to hear stories where random people help out others. It was a very heartfelt moment, thanks for sharing with us!

Thanks for letting me know. Just like you said we will never part with it and will have that memory forever. :tinker:

We always try to "pay it forward". As a teacher I have in the past had "caught you being good" or "caught in a random act of kindness" card that I would hand out to students. I am thinking I might take some along on our upcoming trip to hand out to kids. Along with cards that have the Children's Interstitial Lung Disease website on it for adults that stare at my daughter when she has her oxygen on. Kids are just curious and will ususally ask me or even her. We always tell them she just has to have help with breathing just like that person has glasses to help them see. Little kids always just take that information and are fine. ;) IF they see her in another part of the park they will wave at her.
