Ny nephew will be 5 in November and is begging for a Pixer car party at his house...any ideas from those of you who have done one this year..looking for game ideas, party favors, invites etc....Thanks in advance....Ps Looking for ideas that wouldn't just be the ordinary stuff out of the package--make sense???

Car's stuff has been hit and miss and finding stuff at Wal-Mart. I haven't looked lately, but if they have it in stock, you can get...

Hats, plates, napkins, table cloths, party favors, etc.

But I've also seen some "Cars" drinks. The are in those little aluminum cans (8oz?). The Lighting McQueen drink is fruit punch, the Sally drink is fake lemonaid.

We had a "Cars" party for my 4yo in August. A few people decided we had gone a bit over the top when one of the kids fell and needed a bandaid... and we pulled out a box of "Cars" bandaids.

I don't know if things are going to get better when the movie is released on DVD, but the "Cars" toys are a lot more difficult to find than they used to be.

Basically, just keep your eyes open when ever you go shopping for the next month.

If the party is AFTER the DVD release (the 7th of November I think), perhaps their will be more merchandising to go with it.

Otherwise, I thing you are going to have a problem doing things out of the ordinary because "Cars" is a new set of characters so there isn't much other than the "ordinary" in terms of merchandise out there. Obviously you could do anything that involves cars, but then it's not really "Cars" when you do that. The only exception would be if you or a friend were artistically inclinded and have custom make something.
For the first few months after the movie release, it was easy to

I think you could have a pave it game like in the movie- everyone gets a spot on the driveway that is blocked off with tape and a piece of chalk. They have to cover their area as fast as possible. First one done wins...

You could do some kind of stacking game and call it the Luigi tower(the little car that used to stack the tires)

Now for stuff Birthday express has a ton of "stuff" from decorations to plates to goody bags.
I was just at the disney store yesterday and they had some things- but not a ton of cars stuff yet(although they did try to sell me the movie when we bought a Lightening McSpeed costume)
I would do races and award ribbons.
a homemade cake would be easy- just a sheet cake decorated with a circle track and the cars on it.

You can get some Scene Setters to decorate with. I got ours at Party City. We used repositionable stencil adhesive to adhere it to the wall - worked great!

Go on Ebay and type in Cars Disney birthday and you should come up with some neat things. Ive seen some really cute Cars Candy wrappers with the kids name on it for a good price also can get custom invites and custom t-shirts. I love Ebay for this type of thing!
