Pixar Pier to Bring New Incredicoaster and More to Disney California Adventure Park Summer 2018

Noooo!! I just booked a DLR trip last night and one of the reasons is that DD (now 13) was too short to ride CS on our last trip there in 2010. She is going to be devastated! We'll be there in early June. What are the chances it will be reopened by then?

I think your chances are good... I imagine they are shooting for a Memorial Day opening but of course no one knows for sure.

Oh man, I didn't realise Ariels Grotto will be closed... My daughter has her heart set on the Princess breakfast when we are back in June... Fingers crossed for something equally awesome instead...

I'm confused about WOC myself. In the Pixar Fest article on Disney Blogs (https://disneyparks.disney.go.com/b...ut-disneyland-resort-beginning-april-13-2018/) they stated the following -

Pixar Play Parade is moving to DL park to replace the daytime Soundsational Parade - will now include Up and Inside Out characters

DCA -
nighttime parade - “Paint the Night” (I assume minus the Frozen characters)
Paradise Gardens area will feature a new Pixar-themed musical troupe along with Pixar character greeting opportunities as well as crafts and activities for our younger guests
Ugh..... I feel like there’s WAY to much Pixar going on here. They should just change the name to PixarLand :crazy2:

I’m not a fan of this permanent change either. It’s my favourite park and one of my favourite parts of that park! We are only really a few years on from the billion dollar make over. It’s not like the area is tired.

For me, it’s going back to the old argument of ToT and GotG as well. Not everything has to be tied to a character. Even the midway games have to be now all be tied to something?! Not sure why Cove Bar has to be messed with either. As you can tell I’m really upset by it.

But just like with ToT, I understand that some people will love it as well. We are all different.

I'm not sure why this change, why this area? I'd much rather they take out the Symphony Swings and Jumping Jellyfish and put in something really well themed there.

Also, I personally feel like the redwood challenge area is a huge amount of waster space that could go to a really good ride but maybe they need it quiet there because it's right next to GCH?

I told my DD that Paradise Pier will be rethemed for our trip next August and she almost cried. CS is one of her absolute favourite rides and she's having a hard time understanding that it'll still be the same ride, it'll just look different. DH had suggested bumping our trip up to Spring Break which I'd ordinarily jump on (because who wouldn't want to go 5 months sooner than planned?!) but CS being closed is definitely a dealbreaker for us. I never thought I'd plan a trip around a ride closure but I guess there's a first time for everything.

Unfortunately, you'd have to go before January to ride CS as it's original. :(

Oh we were just there in August and rode it plenty so I’m fine with the change. It’s just the ride in general being shut down that would be the reason for us not to go during that time.

So glad it's only 2 rides closing!! I was worrying how much would close for the construction. Bummed to miss them for our Feb trip but not a deal breaker. Hope they move the princess meal somewhere else so we don't have to chase them down elsewhere.

I'm looking forward to Incredicoaster, but I'm sad that our next trip (April) will have my favorite ride closed altogether, and that I won't get the chance to ride the NPH-voiced version a final time. Ah, well.

I agree, that area isn’t tired looking yet, but I do like that they are investing money in the parks. I don’t love the closures, but as frequent visitors it’s fun to have new things to check out. We LOVE the new guardians!

Yes, with almost the entire pier down it's a shock. We definately wanted to do Screamin, Mickeys Fun Wheel and Cove Bar. Also curious if this affects World of Color?
I just discovered lobster nachos at the Cove Bar last trip in October and I was really looking forward to doing that again. Oh well...
I'll miss Neil Patrick Harris, too. :(

I wonder if that is the difference between locals and overseas visitors - I am still lucky enough to visit 3 times over a 2 year period but not enough to think oh yay new stuff?

Absolutely I think it's a big difference in mind set when it comes to closures and new rides. I live about 4 hours away and I managed to go about 5 times this last year. Some of the rides are getting a little...ok for me. I can't imagine what's it's like living a hop, skip and jump away from the park and getting to go whenever you want. Closures are no big deal really because there isn't an urgency to get certain rides in. And new rides/new themes keeps things from getting too stale. Someone who uses an airplane to get the park will likely feel much differently about closures. And they're not bored with rides (typically), in fact they often long to come back to same ones they've always loved. It makes total sense.

I expect everything to be open by Memorial Day. Pixar Fest begins April 13, so it's not a stretch to think they'll continue with kicking off summer on Memorial Day with a ride/land opening.
