It rained all afternoon today so we went back to our hotel, determined that rain, hail or shine we were going to make the most of our last night in the parks, knowing it will be a few years before we're back again. Headed back about 8:30 to find a spot for the fireworks. Found a perfect spot since so many people had left because of the rain. 9:30 rolls around - fireworks are cancelled. Bugger! Go over to California Adventure to catch the second show of World of Colour. Find a great spot. Half an hour before starting time they start making the announcements that due to unforeseen difficulties the show might be cancelled. Pessimist me wondered if it was because of the low crowds. Optimist me stuck it out until the final cancellation announcement at 10:25. A cast member advised it was "technical difficulties" and nothing to do with the weather. Race back to DLR to find that Paint The Night had also been cancelled because of the rain - fair enough, I get that it could be slippery and dangerous with wet roads. Cue one depressed Mum and two upset kids (fortunately old enough to deal with disappointment in a mature fashion). So our final night in the park consisted of one ride on Peter Pan before the rides all closed and a Starbucks hot chocolate. I know I should be grateful that I saw all the shows earlier in the week, and the fact that we were able to fly halfway around the world in the first place, but we make such a big deal out of our final night and tonight royally sucked! Vent over. :guilty:

Very sorry to hear that's how your trip ended - very disappointing for you : (
Hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip up till then and made some nice memories - feel for you! Bummer...

Oh, no ! So sorry to hear about all the cancellations. Thankful that you did get to see them earlier, but I'm sure at the time for your last evening it was disappointing. You sound like me..... trying to see / do it all again on the last night / day. Hot chocolate at Star Bucks sounds like a much needed stop and a great idea. And yay.... one more ride on Peter Pan ! Wishing you all a Happy Holiday Season !

Ughh that's rough, hopefully the ride lines were at least reasonably short cause of the rain..

I saw all the shows earlier in the week

Whew!

Never leave the important stuff until the last night, and now you really know why!

And yeah, after it raining all day I would have expected problems with those shows. When waiting for fireworks I watch the trees and just in general look UP. If any clouds are there, I see if they are moving much. If trees are moving, if clouds are moving, I expect that there won't be fireworks.

....well because I feel for ya, though not half way around the world, thought I would bring some party favors to the pity party

Showing up at the Grand Canyon December 11, 2014,

Visiting the Roloff farm in October of 2016

Renting a room in Oregon for August 21, 1917 and it is raining.

Sorry but i don't believe i understand? And 1917? Like man how old are ya?

The only thing I could find is there was some weird cloud inversion on the ground of the grand canyon that day. The others, I have no idea...

Can totally understand your dissapointment, is awful when things don't go to plan.

How disappointing for the OP. Things like this are exactly why I always recommend planning for nighttime entertainment early on in a visit. That way, if things go well and you want to view something again, you can. If the shows get cancelled later in your visit, at least you already had a chance to see them.

Thanks for the sympathy everyone! I'm so glad we did manage to see everything earlier in the trip but what are the chances of EVERYTHING being cancelled on the same night! We had such a great trip apart from that. We're home in Australia now and I can't wait to start planning another trip! It will have to wait a few years though. In the meantime I'll stalk Disboards and live vicariously through everyone else's trips!
