It rained all afternoon today so we went back to our hotel, determined that rain, hail or shine we were going to make the most of our last night in the parks, knowing it will be a few years before we're back again. Headed back about 8:30 to find a spot for the fireworks. Found a perfect spot since so many people had left because of the rain. 9:30 rolls around - fireworks are cancelled. Bugger! Go over to California Adventure to catch the second show of World of Colour. Find a great spot. Half an hour before starting time they start making the announcements that due to unforeseen difficulties the show might be cancelled. Pessimist me wondered if it was because of the low crowds. Optimist me stuck it out until the final cancellation announcement at 10:25. A cast member advised it was "technical difficulties" and nothing to do with the weather. Race back to DLR to find that Paint The Night had also been cancelled because of the rain - fair enough, I get that it could be slippery and dangerous with wet roads. Cue one depressed Mum and two upset kids (fortunately old enough to deal with disappointment in a mature fashion).
So our final night in the park consisted of one ride on Peter Pan before the rides all closed and a Starbucks hot chocolate. I know I should be grateful that I saw all the shows earlier in the week, and the fact that we were able to fly halfway around the world in the first place, but we make such a big deal out of our final night and tonight royally sucked! Vent over.
