Ok, after being on these boards for some time, this is the take I tend to get sometimes.

** What do you mean, I cannot fly down on the day of-day before-two hours before? I don't want to take the time to create my own package but I'll spend three week on the phone to "Discount Airlines" trying to get a flight a exactally the time i want and for only $59 per person!

**Ground transportation? You mean DCL didn't havethe foresight to build the port right at the airline terminal?

**I can't find a certain size-flavor-color of snacks-beer-wine-soda-candy on the way to the terminal!! (You mean there is food already on board?)

**OMG! We have to park across the stree and pay 2 weeks wages for the privilage!

**Will I just curl up and die if I don't make a reservation for Palos?

**Check in took, like 20 minutes! What's the holdup? You'd think we are going to another country! And there's not enough to do in the terminal for that 20 minutes! DCL should have a full blown Broadway musical going on. My kids had three fights, two broken game boys and one up-chuck by the time we got on board.

**Kids club, massages, spa, movies, shows, games, mealtimes, lectures, ports-of-call....we've got to get them ALL in so we can have a nice relaxing vacation!

**What do you mean there are only 3 reataurants, Plutos, Pinnochios, ESPN snack, bufets, scoops and room service? I thought you said there was food on board? I only ordered six appetizers, three entres, and four desserts at dinner. After picking it all over, I decided to leave it anyway and have peanut butter and jelly in my room.

**Speaking of rooms, I can't understand why every room doesn't have a veranda. I mean, it's a big ship! Why not just cut a hole in every room to make one? (and just what IS an inside room, anyway? Inside what?)

**OMG! Nassau was so dissapointing! This is not the Bahamas they show on the TV commercials! If I wanted to see poverty, I'd have gone to a "poor" country? Whay doesn't DCL pay these people more?

** Cast-a-way Cay was so hot! DCL should warn people that it gets hot in the tropics in August. And nobody warned us that the water would be salty, either. The free unlimited food was good...only threw out five orders of chicken and poured out six quarts of punch.

** Another thing that DCL should warn people about is that the ship feels like it's moving! And who ordered that storm and high waves like that? I almost couldn't sleep through it. DCL should know better. There should be calm waters if there is first time cruisers on board.

**We finally got off the ship. Took 10 minutes! Whew what a wait! But first they confinscated my souvineer coconuts, bannanas, and box of food taken from the buffet. If they were going to enforce the rules, they should say so.

** And in the end, all I got was sunburned, headlice, sea lice, gained 50 pounds, spent three years wages on photos from shutters jsut like theones in my camera, sea sick, exausted, and a credit card bill the size of the national debit.

So tell, me, does ANYONE have a truly terrific time?

Thanks for a different spin.....been 2x, didn't rush for ressies, saw the shows I wanted, ate the food I wanted, was hot on Castaway Cay - duh it was July. Can't wait for the December cruise so it will be more tolerable:p . We loved the cruise, have been with other cruise lines, will travel with other cruise lines but will return to Disney for family vacations. Stop, take a deep breath and be realistic.:)

I've never gotten that impression reading the board. The positive attitudes and experiences of the people on this board far exceed any negatives I have read. Every now and then someone experiences a glich and comes here for support and advise to help them solve that problem. Isn't that the purpose of this board?

I think there is a question in this post. ;)

My answer: Yes!

And although there does tend to be problems, you must also see the positive posts right?

This board is a great place to share the good and the bad, I hope it continues to be. I have learned a lot. :)

Boy! You have some excellent ideas there, Girl Scout Leader!! I particularly like this idea:

DCL should have a full blown Broadway musical going on.
Maybe I'll write DCL and suggest it, unless you'd like to?

THAT IS ABSOLUTELY HILLARIOUS!!!!!
I SAIL NEXT SUNDAY AND I CAN ASURE YOU THAT I WILL BE HAVING A TERRIFIC TIME! EVEN IF EVERYTHING'S NOT EXACTLY WHAT I HAD IN MIND. ANY VACTION CAN BE A LOT OF FUN IF REALLY WANT IT TO BE.

I think Girl Scout Leader wrote this tongue n cheek. But she is right on a lot of points. In planning we get caught up in making the cruise a truly 'magical' once in a lifetime trip and we forget to go with the flow when things don't fit a plan.

We had the best vacation we ever had on our cruise in January. It was perfect. There were things that didn't go completely as 'the plan' was laid out but so what- it was better than being at work.

We are cruising again in less than 5 weeks and have another booked in 2004.

Now don't start flaming Girl Scout Leader!

I got it when I read it but I see how folks could take offense.

I think SCMinnie summed it up perfectly:

I though it was a really humorous reminder that this we should enjoy what we can! And I don't mean to put down anyone with a really valid concern either (for example Kammy's airline issues).

Oh, i'm not singling out her problems....sorry if ya'll took it that way. I was thinking of someone who wanted to land at precicely 11 am, take a limo to the port to arrive at 11:45 and check in by 12. Let's not be so obsessive!

Hehehe! Pretty funny. I think that some people tend to read the boards and think that everything has to be absolutly perfect for them, when in reality, nothing is perfect.

If it makes you feel any better, I've been on three Disney Cruises and will be going on my fourth next March. I've had a wonderful time on all three. Another secret.....On our first cruise (honeymoon in April of 2000) We had no clue that there was a reservation rush or anything like that. We left Disney World on the last shuttle from the Contemporary and boarded the boat around 2:45. We had our lunch, toured our room then made our way around to the different places for reservations. We got all spa reservations we wanted, Palo reservations, and our first choice of shore excursions all without fretting about it.

This is something I think about when my plans aren't going the way I thought they would:

:teeth:
ROTFL.....Girl Scout Leader you are too funny!!
We have been planning and saving for over 2 yrs. and are really looking forward to making some special family memories on our 1st Disney cruise.
Who cares what dining rotation we get ....
a week off work w/all the kids and the grands, no cooking or cleaning will be heaven ;)

Girl Scout Leader -- VERY FUNNY!

As my father would say "Some people will kick even if their legs were cut off"!

I also tend to think -- ...after September 11th, what could be worse? I'm now being WAY more patient than I used to be...

One you forgot to mention is...

**DCL upgraded us to a suite and I'm really mad they didn't ask us first

They can upgrade me anyday!!!!! Until then, like Jack Dawson said, "I'll be rowing with the other slaves"

Clever...

The only thing I see differently is that I think we here on the DIS (at least I do!) approach those things BEFORE we cruise, rather than complain about them afterward. I am very obsessive - ok - anal - about planning, for the very purpose of not having those problems occur. You can bet I relax completely once I am on board, cuz I know I took care of that stuff before I left!

Very funny though :)

ROTF! Hilarious! That's my LAUGH quota for the day! Thank you Girls Scout Leader! :jester:
