Please check in. Chris may be looking to relocate there in the near future, and I could use some tips on where to seek real estate. Thanks...:D

It's a great city...I miss it a lot!! It has a lot of culture and it's clean and beautiful.

As for where to relocate to it depends on several things. Where will he be working? Downtown or an outlying area? You might want to find that out first and then go from there.

I live about 40 miles north of the Burgh, so I can't help you much. A lot of people live in Cranberry, about 30 miles from me - and lately that's gettting so populated that they are moving more and more into my area.

Pam

I work in downtown Pittsburgh and live in the surburbs - Monroeville, about 10-12 miles east of town. Let us know what area of Pittsburgh he'll be working in - like most places, there are some really nice and some not-so-nice areas to buy a house.

I live right smack dab in the city. If you know what part he would be working in, then it would be easier to steer you in the right direction. If you can get this info let me know and I'll send ya anything that you would need to know about!
The cost of living is fairly decent here. Gas in my area is about 1.32, I am convenient to may shopping areas(strip malls and 3 decent sized malls) easy to get to the airport, about 30 min to ohio and WVA, The city itself has many events that go on thruout the various seasons, the 3 rivers regatta, the arts festival, light up night, and its beautiful here whenthe leaves change with the fall colors. WE have the inclines, and station square, they're also building up our waterfront areas to be useful with walkways and shopping, living quarters, etc. We also have many cultural living areas as well, we have out italian neighborhoods, polish ones, jewish ones, then there's also Pitt Campus, which is huge!
We also have some of the best hospitals around! Most of them are now UPMC, but we have an excellent burn center, orthopedics, transplants, etc.

Thanks so much for your responses....:D He hasn't really started looking at jobs yet. Right now, we're just considering this. The trouble will be finding a job that suits him.

I'll keep y'all in mind, when plans get more serious....:D

We live in Girard,OH(60 miles away-near Youngstown), but my son(28) lives in Moon Twp(next to Pittsburgh Airport) and my sister lives in Cranberry(20 miles north of downtown) and works downtown. Its a great city, little tough getting around downtown(1 way streets), until you do it a few times.Cost of living is not bad, property taxes are a little high(depending what area).:)
