Pit Bull Attack

We've had a pit bull attack in Surrey B.C. Canada. An eleven year old boy was playing basketball when he was attacked. He needed a hundred stitches which took the doctors 3 hours to complete. Things could have been worse had not a young man with a baseball bat run to the child's aid and begun hitting the dog.

I don't get this part: they are not going to destroy the dog, if the dog owners come up with a $5000 fine. There's something wrong here. The dog is a menace.

If you can't tell, I'm very much against pit bulls.

We had a Pitt Bull attack a 9 year old girl in my area as well. Thankfully it was a "minor" injury "only" requiring 6 stitches - but it was to her face.

The girl was standing at the entrance to a dog park, the dog ran to the entrance and bit the girl. The dog's owner is pissed off saying the child didn't belong at the dog park and now the "responsibility" for the child's injury is hers(The dog owner) instead of the mother of the child and her "poor" dog is being held at the pound shaking like jello instead of being home. Yeah that poor dog............@@.

popcorn::

this could get interesting

Well, perhaps officials aren't going to destroy this menace, but......

'Nuff said. No dog would bite my child and live to tell the tale, so to speak.

EMom, I find myself agreeing with you more and more often recently. We live in the same area, but I believe two different parts of town. If you take care of any menacing pits on your side of town, I'll cover the cut-off area. :thumbsup2

That poor boy. It's tough enough to be that age without something like this happening.

I hope he has no lasting scars from this, physical or emotional.

There seems to be a lot of stories about Pit Bull attacks lately. I wonder if this means they're finally going to stop bombarding us with "news" stories about Obama's minister and get back to reporting the real news? .

My prayers go out for the boy.

ANY dog is a potential biter. We just don't know what triggers them. It's the owner's who should pay the price here by throwing them in jail.
BTW I grew up in Surrey. Lived there for 35 years.

You are right, the dog should be destroyed. It has proven that it is not controllable. And the owners should do jail time, and be sued.

Question-I bumped up the other Pitt Bull attack thread yesterday. Did the OP ever come back-possibly on another thread -to update us about the DD of her friend who was hurt?

ugg I hope he has a fast recovery My neighbor got one a month go and I cant stand it. It fits right in with his 'profession'. I live in 2 family house and they just open their back door and let the dog run out into the year with no l to take my kids in the house. Its bad enough they let him come on my side and he has popped 2 soccer blls (yes I know any dog can do that)eash. The yard is not fenced in. Every time they bring him into the yard I have to bring my kids inside of the house.

No news. My friend isn't back, and I've not received any calls or emails. I just saw your post this am and gave a quick answer. I am hoping no news is good news. I think we would have been alerted had there been a bad turn.

Again, thank you for asking.:)

Please update everyone when you finally do get news. Until then...fingers crossed!

Never mind.....Just saw your update regarding Hannah on the other thread. Thanks!

Glad you caught it! I'm so glad she is out of the hospital. They just aren't safe places!

:grouphug: for the child and their family.

It's so sad to see threads like these over and over--more action needs to be taken to cut down on the number of children whose lives are being devastated by these vicious animals.
