Announced on either Access Hollywood or Extra last night that there will be 2 sequels to Pirates of the Caribbean!!!

Have they gotten Keith Richards to play Johnny Depp's father yet?

I hope the sequels do the original justice. I love the original movie and hope Johnny Depp wins the best actor award but it's a long shot!!pirate: ::yes:: pirate:

Doing a little happy dance...I really did love that movie!!

That said, I'm also hopeful they do the first justice...This hasn't always been the case with Disney... :(

I hope they don't go straight to video like most of their other sequels...that's usually a telltale sign that it wouldn't have cut it in the box office...:earsboy: :earsboy:

and Johnny just won the best actor at the SAG awards and couldn't be there. think everyone thought that Sean Pean would win. I'm thrilled!!

I don't think POTC would get a DTV sequel. The "kids" movies, like George of the Jungle and Inspector Gadget, yes, but they put B-level talent in them, shoot them on video, and put cheap CGI special effects in them. If they did that with POTC, expect to see French Stewart as Jack Sparrow, and maybe a guest appearance by Lilly Tomlin. And perhaps Cheech Marin as the voice of Jack, the now immortal ghost pirate skeleton monkey.

I had heard the original plan (from last summer) was to shoot both sequels at the same time to save money - just like the two sequesl to The Matrix. That plan was scrapped when the costs soared, again just like The Matrix.

The rumor is now that instead of two all-star, big budget sequels the next one will use the same planned script and cast - but will now also "set-up" a new, lower priced, cast for #3 and beyond. There's also whisper of someone trying to put together a TV series, but I think that would be well, well beyond ABC's ability to spend at this point.
