Anyone know if and when this may happen? I have seen in a few places that there may be a lengthy rehab, about 9 months. Yet there has been no confirmation of this or a reference to when, only that it will reopen in 2006.

I'd be surprised if this were closed for the big celebration starting in May!

I have HEARD that it was scheduled for a rehab as well as the Hounted Mansion, due to the new celebration that have decided to put it on hold. I think that when IASW reopens we may see something happen. Who knows, disney is well known for changing there minds on a daily basis :charac2:

Oh no!!! Say it isn't so!!! This is the first that I heard TPOC will be out for a long period of time. We will be at WDW in September and that is my DS5 's absolute favorite ride. This past December we missed my DD6's favorite IASW.

POTC is getting its very own Capt. Jack Sparrow Audio Animatronic. You can read a lot of unofficial details in this article from Jim Hill Media:

The only time frame mentioned for the closure is "later this year." Following Disney patterns, that probably means they will try to keep it open through the summer season and close in September. But the key will be their desire to get the attraction re-opened by Spring '06 to coincide with the release of the new POTC movie. In the end, they may have to work backward from their desired re-opening date and use the estimated rehab time to determine exactly when the closure will occur.

Ack! If they close in Sept., then I'll miss it on our honeymoon trip in Oct! Say it ain't so!

Oh well, just means I need to plan another trip after it opens again... pirate:

Oh no! That just sucks...if that's the case, I'll be missing it too. :sad2:

Oh my goodness - we better ride it a bunch on our spring trips. I have a 2 year old that thinks he IS a pirate. POTC is his favorite movie right now. He walks around singing "yo ho ho ho a pirate's life for me". pirate:

I cant see disney shutting down POTC and the Haunted Mansion for rehab during the same period of time, also shutting down the Haunted Mansion over MNSSHP would be really dumb :sad2:

I don't think they'll both go down for extended periods at the same time. However, rumor has they are both due for rehab. So, I wouldn't be suprised if they go down back-to-back.

I did not say that they would both be down at the same time, they were time due. except both to be done.

This is the main ride my kids are looking forward to. We aren't going till the week after Thanksgiving. Does anyone know how far in advance Disney posts their rehab schedule?

I hope they put it off for a long time. Its one of my favorite rides. I even had a pirate themed 25th birthday party.

Haven't heard any specific rumors about the Haunted Mansion recently. The last HM rehab was in the Fall of '02. I don't recall specifically what they did at that time. I do know that it was originally scheduled to be a 2 week rehab and ended up being 2 months due to additional problems that were uncovered after the work began.

Sounds like Pirates is scheduled to be the next extensive rehab. Barring safety / operational issues, there's no reason to take both POTC and HM down at the same time. I don't think Haunted Mansion 2 will be arriving in theaters anytime soon--probably no reason to start construction on that Eddie Murphy AA. ;)

I heard a rumor that my soulmate, Jack the Pumpkin King, was to be added to HM. Not sure when that was supposed to happen.

I must say I was a little disappointed in HM last week. They have changed it! When did Disney start painting everything with that neon colored glow-in-the-dark paint? It is awful! It isn't scary, it's garish! And after I saw it in HM I started noticing it all over the place. Thumbs down for the glowing elementary school paint!!

I would not expect any of the "blue sky" rumors about what may happen to Pirates to actually take place during the big DL 50th Celebration at WDW this year. Additionally, Disney will likely wait to see the response to Pirates 2 (and 3?) before going through such a major undertaking (if it is to happen as we've heard at all)
