Does anyone know for sure when this is going down for Rehab? We are going to first week in October, and I will be very disappointed if it is closed. Thanks!!

As far as I know there is nothing "official" from Disney stating this is happening anytime soon. I may be wrong. I know they've hinted at it, but I dont think they've set a date. In fact, just so you know, the CM's at POTC in March 2002 said it was going to go down very soon, but they then moved it back. The CM said that they were going to do extensive refurb on the cave (now there's talk of even bigger stuff, on down the "river"). If you've ever seen pictures of the "roofing" of the cave, taken by flash camera, around the area before the "drop", there are many holes in the ceiling due to aging.

The "rumors" are that it will go down at the end of this summer, but don't count on anything until you hear it listed as an official refurb. At this point, if Disney hasn't announced it, I wouldnt' count on it yet.

I think the rumor is in addition to rehab, there is talk of adding Capt. Jack Sparrow to the ride in keeping with the POTC movie. When I was there in January, I was told that a late summer/early fall rehab was TENTATIVELY scheduled but that they did not plan to have the ride down for long. Of course this was just a CM that told me that and added that that was just the rumor. If Disney has not announced it by your trip time, I would assume it will be open.

I think it will be fall before they close it. It's supposed to re-open with Jack Sparrow around the same time the second movie comes out - which I think is in 2006.

When I'm there this March I'm definatley going to ask a CM about possible dates that the ride will be down, since we're planning on going during Christmas of 2006 and if it's a long rehab it may still be in effect. I'll be crushed.

Oh, and to the 2 people with the Phantom mask as their avatar - I love it!!!
