This will be our first trip to WDW and I was able to get a Pirate's League appointment on Sunday at 9:15am. I'm not sure if I should keep that appointment as it is our first day at MK and I know the first thing in the mornings are the best time to ride the rides. Should I try and change as it gets closer? We will be missing a lot of rides that we aren't using FP on? Also I'm wondering if my son (4) will get tired of the make-up/costume since it is early in the day. Any thoughts/suggestions welcome!

Thanks!!

I would change it. It takes about an hour and if this is first visit there is a lot to see and do and all that sitting still so soon will be hard. We found it good later in day for a rest of sorts. Not sure I would do it on first visit to MK there is a lot to do. We did it during our first visit to wdw and it was fun, but we had been to MK a few times earlier in the week.

I agree with nherbert. I wouldn't do this first thing on your very first day at MK. If that is your one and only day in MK, I would do it, perhaps, right after lunch. If you are planning more days in MK, do it another day, maybe mid morning. My DS has done it twice. He has never gotten a costume. First time it was just makeup and the sash and sword, etc. they give you. Second time he did the "Jake" package and pulled the wig off about 15 minutes after we left. It will take about an hour - there is a LOT of waiting. Waiting to get called inside, waiting for a chair and then waiting to get into the room where they take your picture.

If you don't want to make the time and money investment on Pirate's League, they also have great face painting in Tomorrowland. It's never busy and the cost is about $16. My DS7 much prefers that now to Pirate's League and it only takes about 10 minutes.

My son did Pirates League last year when we went. I scheduled it for early afternoon and that was perfect for us. It was when the parks were busy and we were able to get out of the madness for awhile. I also scheduled the Piratates and Pals fireworks voyage for that evening. My son felt like such a superstar in his pirate get up at the Pirates and Pals cruise. It made for a great day.

I'll check and see if I can change the appointment, thanks for the feedback! Also, great idea about the face painting in Tomorrowland...I didn't even know that was an option and sounds like we should strongly consider that instead. That would also allow my 2yo to participate! Thanks everyone!
