we sailed on the dream in January 2015 and are going back this January. They did not have BBB or pirates league last time.
DS will be 8 while on the cruise and DD will be 10. We will not tell them until Christmas so no asking their input.
I definitely want to sign DS up for pirates league. DD is not too interested in princesses anymore but loves spa things and girlie stuff. I was thinking of pre poking pirates league for both on pirates night . ( which I think may be DS birthday).
I'm debating if she would prefer BBB or pirates league. I tried googling images and did not see much for the girls. I saw a mermaid someone did in MK and did not know if that was an option on the dream. Any input would be appreciated.

my daughter is 9 and is done with BBB but she still enjoys PL in both WDW and on DCL. I say do it for both on Pirate Night, they will enjoy it. They do have a girls pirate costume. Its a dress and they get the makeup sword, eyepatch etc. Book it for the afternoon before dinner so they get use out of it all night

I gave my 9 year old daughter the choice of the BBB before I realised there was a pirate version - her eyes lit up at the idea is being made over but I reminded her she would have to stay like that all day/evening and told her how much it cost and she said she wasn't bothered. She likes to weigh up the cost against her enjoyment and I'm not arguing with that!

However I did mention to her that they had cheaper options on Pirate night when I realised they had them and that might be fun - she agreed so I have booked her into the "girls" version of the pirate makeover as apparently a beard was not something she wanted to wear pirate:

I think if I had taken her when she was 7 or just into 8 she would have been up for the full treatment.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to book them both for same time or back to back pirates.
Pirates league is like a dos type experiment where they do a pirate makeover

If your daughter isn't into the frilly pirate dress offered on board, you can bring your own costume. I bought pink pirate t-shirts online before our cruise and then put the girls in those on pirate night with denim skirts. I ended up booking the pirate makeover for them at the BBB and my girls loved it! They get quite a bit of stuff in the basic pirate package that is pink and black....which included a pink and black bandana, eye patch, sword, a BBB pirate sash, nail polish and face gems. They had a blast with it, the experience was so fun within itself. We also did the BBB princess make over but my oldest opted to go for the punk rocker hair style and so her's was not quite as much princess as my youngest. The experience is well worth it.
