My wife and I were there last weekend and overall, had a good night.

Personally, I think once you've been there - you will not wish to do it again, but for those who haven't done it - I recommend it!

Okay, first things first - you are asked to get there a good hour and a half early. The simple reason for this is because they can make a fortune from selling merchandise from the shop basically and other side events.

The pre-show entertainment was good and even more so when my wife volunteered me as one of eight lads who then had to do the 'Can Can', before doing other tasks during the evening.

The overall show is lively and its staged on a large pirate ship (obviously) and guests are divided into four sections, where they cheer on their own pirate and boo the others. If you enjoy loud bangs from muskets, sword fights and taking part in tasks helping your team to winning ways - then this is the show for you. The kids and adults will love it!

The meal is average, but surely that doesn't matter?

It's definitely worth the money spent! - However, our only disappointment on the night was when the waiter produced a plate saying that it was recommended each adult guest pays $5 and each child $3 for a tip. I know tipping is customary in the U.S, but I felt that was cheeky as surely it's up to the guests who wish to contribute to donate tips of their choice.

Thanks for the review. I hae been thinking about doing this and just cannot make up my mind as you read positive and so much negative.

What do you think would happen if you didn't show up 90 minutes prior to show time?

Don't ever take a cruise, PotNoodle - you'd hate the prescribed tipping policy. $16 for your family of 4 (at about 10% of the cost of your tickets) is considerably less than the standard 15-20%. Sadly, those Brits who refuse to 'get' the US tipping culture make things very difficult for those of us who accept it and comply with it.

THanks for the review. THis is something that our younger daughter is begging to do, so far we have been on the fence so to speak about it. Can anyone give me a little info about it's location? We'll be at Portofino Bay and have seen where the parks close early each day.

Deb, There are plenty of Americans who don't 'get' the tipping culture either. It's not just the Brits.

Yes, I've picked that up from these boards. I guess it would be better for all concerned if it could be phased out, but I don't suppose the economy could survive - too much of a sea change. Similar to our National Health Service - we pay an 'insurance premium' which is deducted from our salaries and we effectively get free healthcare. It used to work, but it doesn't now. Trouble is we're too entrenched and to change it would take decades.

I've noticed some members who have been to this show have criticised it.

I wouldn't go again, but it's worth going to see and nope, you don't necessary have to get there that early, but I wouldn't get there that late neither.

There's a small buffet before the event as well I forgot to tell folk about. Pasta, fruit salad and chicken I think.
