Pirates Cruise for 9yr old?

Do you think my 9 year old niece(she'll tell you 9 1/2!) will have fun on this cruise?

She is active and I want to make sure the cruise will keep her interested.

Any other tips for 9 yr old would be great. It will be her 1st time.

I can't speak from experience but from what I've been reading on these boards, most kids seem to LOVE the idea of being on the water (if only for a brief period of time--I thought I read they go off to an island ???), and looking for buried treasure, having lunch, and dividing up the loot. The ages are 4-10, and I think sehe would enjoy it very much. I've been trying to book the cruise for 10/27 for my sons (9 and 4 y/o) and daughter (6 y/o), but they are full (I do have one booked, this is just a better day). Also they split up into groups of two. It all depends on what you think your daughter will like.

My DS(10) did the cruise in February. He had been on it before when he was 8. He had a fun time both times.

He was the oldest child on the boat when he went the second time. If your daughter won't be upset that a lot of the other children will be about 5-6 then she should have a fun time.

They take the kids to all the resort beaches on the 7 Seas Lagoon. They get off at each stop and look for a treasure which will have their next clue to follow.

My son, who is very young for his age (9 years) did not like this when he went. He was the oldest and did not like having to hold hands with another boy who was 5. He thought it was too babyish for him. He probably would have had more fun just renting a boat with his dad or doing a fishing excursion. It depends on the child, but I do think that 9-10 is pushing the limit for this-especially if they are paired with a 4 year old.

Do parents go with? or we just send the kids off? YIKES! Also how much is it? What all do they do?

I guess it depends on your particular child, my DD did this when she was 9 1/2 and LOVED it! There were a couple of older kids that day and she paired up with another older girl (not her brother ). Cap'n Drew and the CM's onboard went out of their way to make the older and younger kids feel comfortable. She did not say one word about feeling "babyish". My DD is the kind who can ride Space Mt. twice in a row then happily go on the carosel. I was really glad she did it then because now she is too old!

The children go with out their parents, it is very safe and well supervised. Not sure of the cost now... it was around $22 when my kids went, probably more now.

Pirate Cruise Info -- Children wear pirate bandannas and follow clues to search Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon for buried treasure. They sail to many exotic "ports of call" (Resort Marinas) to collect treasure. At the final port of call, children have a snack and split up the "buried treasure." Children who are potty trained (no pull-ups) and ages 3-10 may attend. Lunch is provided (Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, Gummy bears, Krispy Treat and Juice box).

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Available to all guests, Cost is $28.17 plus tax.
