'Pirates' Credit Cookie

DUH!! That's right...why can't I just be that logical??

LOL! That makes perfect sense, and so now I believe Bootstrap is alive and well and living with the natives somewhere....

Ya know....I don't care about the plot....I just want Johnny back!

Hopefully he will say yes to a sequel. I am starting to like Orlando, too! Swoon~

I'm pretty sure I read that Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom have been signed on for a sequel. (Not the chick, though, yet.)

No kidding - drivers, medics, personal assistants - I understand giving credit to those that physically worked ON the movie itself, on or off screen, like the actors, stuntpeople, special effects artists, etc. But when you get down to who delivered the Krispy Kreme doughnuts & coffee every morning, that's just nuts.

Speaking as a former CPA (Celebrity Personal Assistant), I may not work on the movie making process, but getting an actor to the set or theatre each day is not the easiest thing in the world! So let credit be given where earned and that includes the Krispy Kreme guy!

Whetever happened to 'get to work on time or get fired'? :p

Okay - maybe one of you can explain something to me, since we're talking about the plot...

Wasn't the curse lifted by returning the gold and adding the blood of the last thief? If so, wouldn't they have needed Captain Jack's blood? And if that's the case, doesn't that curse make no sense because the last thief would be cursed meaning he wouldn't bleed? I mean, even if they hadn't thrown Bootstrap overboard, they couldn't have gotten any blood from him because the undead don't bleed, right?

Is this just a giant flaw in the movie, or a giant flaw in my understanding? If someone can explain, please do!

Tara,

They did get Jack's blood - he slit his hand and got blood on the coin before he threw it to Will - and they got Bootstrap's blood via Will (his son) - as for the undead not bleeding, when they were in human form they could bleed supposedly, just not bleed to death. So of course this does beg the question, why didn't they bleed when they were shot (even if they weren't going to die)? :)

Tara, this is MY understanding, so bear with me. :teeth:

All the pirates who took coins had to return the coins with their blood. (Barbossa makes a refernece to them having paid their dues and were waiting for Bootstrap's blood to make it final.) The pirates do bleed, even through they don't die. When Elizabeth stabs Barbossa on the ship, the knife is covered in blood.

They "killed" Bootstrap before they knew how to get rid of the curse, so they needed Will's blood, along with his coin, to lift the curse. (And I don't think Bootstrap is dead. Think about it - he's undead and has a couple years under the ocean to get free. We know the pirates don't drown because they were walking under the sea.)

Capt. Jack took a coin so he could fight Barbossa without dying. When Will was ready to toss in his coin, Jack cut his hand and tossed his bloodied coin to Will. (It was quick - you can almost miss it if you didn't know it was coming.) We know this for sure because when Jack is getting ready to hang, he has bandages wrapped around his hand, same as Will's and Elizabeth's.

It *is* confusing, though. I recommend seeing the movie again to catch the intricate details. :teeth:

Well, if they bleed then it makes sense. I just thought that they didn't bleed. And I thought that the human form was just an illusion, only revealing the true form in moonlight. Interesting.

I still thought that they didn't bleed though - which was why the blood didn't appear on Barbosa until after the coins were returned.

So, I guess they'll have to bleed the monkey in part 2.

Okay, now, that's just insulting. Drivers, medics and personal assitants all play vital roles during a film's production. If you put in a million hours on a movie and you help to make the production happen, whether you're on set or off (and medics are on set, by the way) you should have your name in the credits. Trust me, if you worked on a film, it would be important to you to get your name up there, too. The folks who drive the actors, etc around, the folks who assist the director, producers, etc (and trust me, their jobs are NOT easy) the medics who tend to actors, crew or anyone who's injured in any way during the shoot, the security folks who guard the set, the office personnel who do all the support work for those on the set, the craft service folks who keep the crew and actors fed and happy, EVERYONE who works on a film (on or off set) is important. Just because you don't know what they do, doesn't mean their job is not important or that they don't put way more time and energy into the film than you could ever imagine. And yes, I've had my name up there, and yes, it was important to me and I appreciated the couple of people who stayed in the theatre to see it and acknowledge that my coworkers and I deserved some little bit of recognition.
