Pirates and Pals Fireworks cruise?

We did this two years ago with my daughter and her two boys, ages 4 and 6 at the time. It was a wonderful evening, lots of fun.

I seem to remember reading that when booking you should request either odd or even numbered seats, as one side of the boat has better views of the fireworks than the other. Something to do with the boats being covered and that you simply can't just look straight up during the fireworks. Can anyone confirm, and if so what is the recommended side to book (odd or even)?

The left side of the boat (we were in row 9) --- (if you are seated, and facing the front) is the better side, as the Castle/Fireworks are towards the left)

If I remember correctly, the seats are assigned based on when the reservation is made. We were on the "not good" side last time and we were still able to see all but the very high explosions.

20140131_202739 (2)1 (1024x576).jpg As always I have to be the dissenting opinion on this one. We did it as well as the dessert party on our last trip and we thought the dessert party was way better. We got to the pirate cruise as early as you can and we were very rushed. The desserts were plentiful but we had to rush to eat anything. The line for captain hook and smee was long the entire time they were out and we almost didn't get to meet them. There was no photographer taking pictures so we had to have another family take our picture and we took theirs.

The fireworks were delayed because of fog and we were on the boat for what felt like forever. It got VERY boring for our 5 year old. the captain did trivia the whole time and it was all mostly over her head. The view of the fireworks was horrible imo, however this may be due mostly to the fog, which obviously is out of Disney's control. The peter pan m&g was again rushed and again no photographer. At least that time the handler was able to take our picture though. Not sure where the handler was with hook and smee. Anyway here is the view in case you were wondering.

I have to agree with most people here Pirates and Pals cruse was the best thing we did last trip. Kids have a blast and they keep everyone entertained, we had 5 kids 17,11,7,6,4 and all of them had fun. Let loose and sing as loud as you can and get into it you'll have a blast. :sail:
