Hello all, I have a question for ya. My cousin and I are hoping to fly out for the POTC premier, and we were wondering if anyone went last time or knew what to expect. I've seen some reports online that it will happen on May 19, with the park opening at 6:30am! I figure we'd have to get there early to get a spot and keep it parked there all day, but does a park ticket ensure that you can attend the premier, or will they kick everyone out at closing? We've never been to DL and so we're excited about going, but a big reason for going at this time is for the premier! Also, any input on your experiences with the good neighbor hotels would help. I've noticed there's a thread that mentions some details, but not many reviews (unless I missed something). Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!:goodvibes

shhhayabout iratespay:ssst: (as if most people don't already know, lol). But, yeah, not being a celebrity actually insures that you will not be able to attend the actual premiere.

oops! Sorry, are we not supposed to discuss that on here? Anyway, thanks for the info.

YOu can see them come down the 'red carpet', but not see the actual movie. Dl will kick you out as some point in time.

If you want a fun experience watching the movie (I know it'll be fun anywhere, but EXTRA fun), Disney owns the El Capitan theater in Hollywood, and when their movies open there, they make a big deal out of it. We went for both POTC 1 and 2, and they decorate the theater all pirate-like, and have props from the movie, and they have pirate jugglers entertaining before the movie, and an organist playing Disney songs before the movie starts, and the crowd is 100% Disney fanatics, some of them even dressed up like pirates, and it's a lot of fun. Their website is http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/el_capitan/index.html
I don't see anything on it yet about POTC 3, but I know they will have it there. pirate:

No, I was just kidding, make sure you get there early though last year the people at the end of the carpet couldn't get autographs because they had to rush to the premier so they were running past them.

OK for those of you who are going can you please tell Orlando and Johnny to come back to my house AFTER the premiere. I know that they have to be there for the premiere and that others will be drooling over them but I need them at HOME after. After a few hours they should be MISSING ME anyway.

Thanks for passing the message to my men.

You guys are great! :thumbsup2

WHAT?!?! Orlando said he was flying back to Chicago with me after the premier!:lmao:

I'm not sure what to do now, my cousin is bailing on me since we don't get to actually see the movie. I guess I'm a little nuttier than she is. The El Capitan sounds fun, but I don't know how long I can stay in California cuz I'm in grad school year round.:surfweb: But I may make some time to visit my best friend in Carlsbad while I'm thinking about coming out. :yay: And after three weeks of subzero temps, SoCal sounds very good!

Yes! Another "crazy" person flying to Disneyland for the premiere:rotfl:
It looks like I am doing the same thing. I've never been to California so I'm soooo excited about spending a week there.

My only problem is finding a friend who can afford to go with me. I might find someone to travel with, but no friend will arrive at DL with me at 4am :confused3 :lmao: Plus, all my trip expenses will be paid from everything I get for graduating with my AA in May  (Lucky me for being the 1st in the family to graduate with any college degree)

I'm also trying to find some info about the hotels.

I don't get to post much here so I will try to give as much information as possible. I did go last year to the red carpet event. We arrived at 10:30 am (the park opened at 6:30 am). We had pretty decent spots so don't think you need to camp out in front of the park. I suggest you get there when the park opens because I too believe this year will be more crowded than last.
I had others with me, so we took turns running to get supplies (water, misters). It was VERY warm last year in June. Also, bring activities to keep you amused - deck of cards, Ipods, books to read... We talked with people around us which was fun for me.
They had street performers strolling down the red carpet singing, dancing, juggling. They were dressed as pirates. Very cool.
About 2 hours before the stars were supposed to begin walking down the red carpet, people began pushing their way into line. This was very unfortunate. Some were cutting in line while others were just pushing forward. Remember I said it was quite hot that day!
Anyway, we got autographs and photos of alot of stars. It was crazy but so worth it.
After Johnny Depp walked down the red carpet they began clearing us all out of the park. California Adventure had extended their hours to accomodate for Disneyland closing early. So we headed over there for a few rides.
I am going to the Red Carpet event this year and you are all invited to sit amongst my crew! Drink up me hearties, yoho!

I'm so sorry. I just asked Orlando (he's sitting on my couch) and he said he didnt mean to mislead you. He thought you were filming a movie there and that is why he said he was going to Chicago. Since I informed him that this wasnt the case he said he was coming home. I can send you an autograph picture if you like! :rotfl:

Aw Bella, sorry your cousin in bailing, but you've got to come represent the wenches! Come on hun, you know you want to......is it working? are ya still coming?.....can't blame a girl for trying

Well, there will be plenty of wenches to hang out with if you decide to go solo!

Use my logic!! If gates open at 6:30, that's 9:30 my time! Easy peasy! 4AM is really only 7AM for us east coasters! :rotfl:

That is so true!! :rotfl2: I completely forgot about the time change. Thanks for the reminder. So that's really not bad at all and I will definitely be sure to use that to get my group outta bed that morning. We can be at Disney at 7am :rotfl:

I am jealous!
I wanna go to the premier, too!!!!!:lmao:
Well, I am going to the Pirate Adventure in WDW and will see film there at midnight...But alas, my Johnny & MY boyfriend, Orli (:rotfl2: ) won't be there.:sad1:

Another solo flying wench here! DD and I are usual DL buddies but I think for a day of sitting in the sun just waiting to watch the stars walk past might be a bit much for her so I will have to go by myself!

Awww... I can't believe I am going to miss it. I'll be leaving DLR on May 15th. Maybe Johnny and Orlando will be there on my birthday (14th) enjoying the parks and I'll run into them. :thumbsup2

I just heard all of the Disney hotels are booked up.:sad1: I was really hoping to stay onsite, but I guess not since I am booking so "late". I am used to DW, where there are tons of onsite hotels. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel that is near DL?

Due to a private event on Saturday, May 19, 2007, Disneyland® Park will be opening at 6:30 a.m. and closing at 5:00 p.m. Disney's California Adventure® Park will extend its hours that day and will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.
