i was just wondering if anyone out there has stayed @ pirateland campground myrtle beach sc we will be there 6/11-6/17 it is our first time & would love some input thanks:):dance3:

We loved Pirateland but it has been quite a while since we have been there. We used to go in October too so it wasn't as busy then.

The kids played at the beach all day and at night we went to the pool.

Have a great time and give us a report when you get back!

We were there two weeks ago - our second visit. Pirateland is large, but well maintained and well policed. There is a very nice pool area, and the beach is beautiful. You will probably want to either bring your bikes or to rent a golf cart ($50/day) to get around there. But, if you have an ocean front site, you won't need a cart to get to the beach - and you can drive your car to the store and pool.

The oceanfront sites have a covered picnic area, and are pretty closely packed. The "inland' sides are a bit more spread out, and have some shade.

Have you requested any particular area (or site) of the campground? I could probably describe it pretty well, as my memory is still fresh.

We camped at Pirateland for a little over a week a couple of years ago and had a great time. It was very hot/humid though, so make sure your AC is in good shape, or be sure to hit the pool/beach in the afternoon to cool off. The bathrooms/comfort stations were just o.k. It's tough to compete with Fort Wilderness for well maintained restroom/shower facilities.

We're returning to Myrtle Beach this year, but staying next door at the Myrtle Beach State Park. Besides being cheaper, we were just in for a change and wanted to try something different.

I'm sure you'll have a good time!

We used to hit Pirateland every year until we tried Ocean Lakes which is just down the street. All pull thru sites and you get to pick your specific site. Of the big 3 in south MB I go Ocean Lakes, then Pirateland, and last Lakewood.

Myrtle Beach State Park is nice, but personally I prefer Huntington Beach State Park. It's just a few miles South of the hustle and bustle of Myrtle Beach, the sites are larger and the road is wider. I had trouble getting my rig into my site at MBSP. Sorry for hijacking the thread, I just wanted to give Toga something to think about.

Thanks! Any and all suggestions are welcome. Maybe we'll give Huntington a try next time {after the Fort of course}.

We had thought about camping there this summer, but kept getting mixed reports.

We stayed at Pirateland two years ago right before 4th of July. Really enjoyed it and had no problems or issues but watch out for the golf carts. We will be at Myrtle Beach State Park for 4 of the nights you are at Pirateland.

Haven't stayed at Pirateland but have driven through it. We always stay at Ocean Lakes ... if we can't get a site there, we stay home. (Translate ... won't stay at Pirateland ... had a bad experience at Lakewood and will never go there again!)

We went to Pirateland years ago ans don't care if we would never go there again, like some have said watch out for the golf carts and when we were there we ran into the rudest bunch of campers @ any campground we have been to. I wish we could have put up a toll booth to collect money from everyone that cut thru our sites , some people are just to lazy to walk around.
