We have one day we are going to the Very Merry Christmas Party. It is on a Tuesday. I wanted to do something fun for dd6. We have the option of a 10-12 noon cooking class at the Grand Floridian or a 11:30-1:30 Pirate Cruise leaving from Port Orleans. She loves to cook but also loves pirates. I am leaning towards the pirate cruise for the reason that we can sleep in the morning but I am also leaning towards the cooking class because I don't have to rely on the weather (cold or rainy)

Has anyone done one or both. Opinions appreciated!!

Well, we have done neither (yet), but I simply asked my daughter which activity she would prefer. She picked the pirate adventure. So, she will be doing that on our next trip to the World.

DD9 has done the cooking class several times and LOVED it. She has made several different dishes (mostly desserts) and has even had Drew, one of the executives chefs, in for class a couple of times. It's not heavy-duty cooking. Some ingredient mixing and decorating. She's made English muffin pizza, mini fruit tarts (2x), decorated sugar cookies and some others. They also decorate aprons with painted handprints and get a toque (cloth with mouse ears attached). After class, they all march to the GF rear lobby to meet parents and distribute goodies to all guests in the area. (I bring a book and read in the GF lobby during class, so relaxing.)

Can't comment on the pirates, sorry.

I'm sure she'll have fun either way. The kids programs are great!

My dd has done the gf pirate cruise and albatross cruise as well as the cooking class, madhatters tea party and my disney girl tea party. Of the pirate cruises and cooking class she would rather do the pirate cruises a little more interesting she liked albatross the best.

I don't have any girl yet**crosses fingers and looks at tummy** but I'd say pirate cruise.

I went on the pirate cruise at Disney as a child(probably like age 7?) and I STILL remember it and how much fun I had and I'm now 30.

I booked the pirates cruise. I want to surprise her but I asked her if she could do a pirate treasure hunt or cook tomorrow and she didn't hesitate by blurting out treasure hunt. So I vaguely got my answer and now I have to plan a treasure hunt tomorrow :lmao:

Thanks!

My kids have done the Pirate Cruise, Albatross Cruise, Grand Adventures in Cooking and the Wonderland Tea Party. Although they loved them all their top pick was Grand Adventures in Cooking!

We offered our 2 DD the same choice (they are 4 and 6), and they both enthusiastically said the pirate cruise, so we are doing the POR Bayou Pirate adventure in December. BTW it isn't at 11:30 anymore, it is at 9:30, with check in by 9:15

Well we actually upgraded to GF so we are doing the morning class and the afternoon tea party before MVMCP which will be nice and relaxing for all of us. No traveling to other hotels.
