What exactly happens at the pirate party? Doe sit revolve around dinner?
Do people dress up? Any info. would be helpful.

Good thread! Subscribing (and adding my own questions as well).

Do people buy stuff to wear on the ship or bring stuff from home? How elaborite does it get? Both the men and the women get dressed up as pirates?

LOTS of people dress up (Moreso on the Magic than on Wonder). Some people buy costumes off the Internet or ebay, others retro-fit costumes from Halloween/Renaissance fairs. My whole family gets into it big time...we accessorize the costumes with hideous jewelry and chains from the clearance racks at places like JCPenney...capris or cut off sweat pants can serve as pirate bottoms, and there's so much pirate motif stuff floating around now it's pretty easy to find pirate themed scarves and shirts and medallions.

Before dinner on Pirate Night there are photo ops with characters dressed as pirates and also Jack Sparrow in the atrium areas. All the waiters are wearing pirate gear, your dinner menu is on a "treasure map" scroll, and there is a pirate parade during the meal. After the late seating, everyone crams onto decks 9 and 10 where the sailaway party was, and there's a pirate "invasion" with pirates climbing down the masks, an altercation with Capt. Hook, a rescue from Mickey Mouse, lots of music, group dances like the Stomp, and fireworks! Then you can commandeer a sun lounger on deck and watch one of the POC movies on the big screen outdoors. It is HEAVENLY fun.

Oops...meant masts, not masks.

Also, you can buy kids' pirate gear and pirate hats on board at Disney prices (but get them early). We bring ours from home. There's usually pirate bandanas given out at dinner, so everyone can wear SOMETHING pirate themed, even if it is just the bandana!

That sounds awesome!! I can't wait to go.

My family was a bit disappointed in the pirate night party mostly because it was incredibly loud. My 5 year old couldn't stand it and even my ears started to hurt after awhile. We ended up finding a quieter spot and waited for the fireworks.

skylynx, you forgot one thing - the buffet on deck 9 immediately following the pirate party! They have huge turkey legs, just like the ones at Magic Kingdom!

The whole night is a blast. My family always dresses for dinner as well (we have the early dining), then get our pictures taken with the characters until it's time for the party. The characters available last week were: Captain Jack Sparrow, pirate Mickey, pirate Minnie, Capt. Hook with a few of his pirates, and pirate Chip & Dale. I think pirate Goofy was also available.

After the party (at 11:00) they showed Pirates of the Caribbean II on the jumbo-tron and Pirates of the Caribbean I in the Buena Vista Theatre. Once number III is out, I'm sure it will be the one on the jumbo-tron!

I was looking on line and it looks like there is a pre dinner pirate party for families. Has anyone done this? that sounds better for our crowd (2 and 6 year old.) pirate:

We loved pirate night! And coming on the Castaway Cay day, and ending with fireworks!!!!! Perfect! I posted somewhere else that Claire's Stores has cheap pirate jewelry. If you buy 10 items off their clearance racks, each item is only $1.00. I bought necklaces, earrings, bracelets, wristbands. The official Pirates of the Caribbean stuff is there too, but not on sale. I bought eye-patches from Oriental Trading. There will be 15 of us on the Wonder next January, so we'll look good!pirate:

We are having a friend of mine make our costumes from a McCall's pattern. Can't wait to get them.
