Okay, I don't want to sound like an idiot, but can someone please tell me exactly what Pirate Night is. I hear a lot about it, but I would love the details!!!

Everything on the entire cruise is pirate theme! That's about it: the wait staff, the menu, the characters, some of the passengers are in costumes, you have a pirate night bandana at your plate when you arrive at dinner, your menu is printed on a "map" that you can take home.

Then, at about 10pm, Captain Hook and Mr Smee put on a show, "take over" the ship, until Mickey saves the day. After that, there are fireworks, and a dessert buffet - that is, of course, pirate theme. The food on the buffet is more than just desserts, they were handing out huge turkey legs, too. I thought it was funny, and brought one back for DH.

They hand out gold coins by the dozens that you can bring home, too.

I think that's it - that's what I remember.

We also each received a bandana and the menu in all three restaurants is the same. Note that if you are in Animator's Palette that night, they do not do the light show.

I know some people love it, but I wasn't overly impressed. We had made reservations in Palo for our last night (4 night Wonder -- rotation PTAA). Pirate night was night 3 and as a result missed the light show in AP. I would have rather seen that.

But -- on other posts you'll see people really get into the theme and enjoy it. :confused3

How hard is it to change your dining rotation should this happen? This is our first cruise and one of the things I'm looking forward to is the light show at AP.

Okay... as far as I understand it...

Animators Palate does the light show ONLY the first night you are scheduled to eat in there of the cruise. It won't do it every night people are eating there - what I mean is, if you repeat AP, it won't do the light show the second time around. So if you eat at Palos the first night you're scheduled to be in AP, you'll miss the light show.

It has nothing to do with Pirate Night. If you happen to be in AP for Pirate Night and it's the first time you are in AP, you will still have the light show.

Thanks for describing Pirate Night. I thought I was the only one who didn't understand.
