OK - I have asked before but will ask again.

I understand that pirate night is on the Nassau day however what is all involved? I have heard something about fireworks. How many people do you think would dressup? I am not sure whether I should go out and get something for all 5 of us to take along or not.

And we are playing Pirate's pirate:. DH and I and our 2 kids DD-17 and DS-7 just got our costumes yesterday and will be having fun sporting them. There will be a themed dinner and then a deck party. Hopefully the fireworks will be ready on our sailing. I understand that there will be line dancing and Captain Hook and his mangy band of cutthroats arrives and tries to take over the ship. I think they also look for dressed up pirates to participate. Either way, it will be FUN. Hope you join us!

There were not many folks dressed up on the Jan 16 Wonder...a couple with eye patches. I was happy with the bandana they provided at dinner. We really enjoyed the deck party and brief line dance at dinner. Have fun!!

A friend had picked up eye patches for the kids at the Pirate Museum in Nassau. That's about as dressed up as any guest was for the evening. I suppose since it was so new, not many folks were aware of it.

Have fun, whatever you do! pirate:

Did we have fireworks on our pirate night??? Please tell me we didn't because I was at the party and I did not see them so unless I drank too much Pirate brew I don't remember fireworks.

When did this start...is it temporary or permanetn? We are going on the May 8th wonder and my kids would get a kick out of this. Is there a change in the menu?

We were on the 16th Wonder - new so no one knew to pack pirate clothes. My dd 7 wore her Esmerald costume (yes, we know she is a gypsy, but it was close to a pirate) and everyone commented on it - even Captain Hook in the kid's club! They have a contest with some of the dads on stage and provide "costumes" for them. It was fun. I would recommend dressing up and having fun (don't necessarily need to buy new clothes - just look through the closet). They do provide bandanas at dinner to wear on your head. The wait staff dresses up.

Thanks for the info. I have seen bits and pieces of this night but it has never been completely explained (until now).

Someone had mentioned that they saw the menu for this evening - anyone have any idea what is it?

My daughter (9) was Tinkerbell for Halloween so maybe this may work as a costume - since Captain Hook will be there. She has been looking for an excuse to wear it again (outside of the house and some days she lives in it!) Not sure what I would be able to get by 2 other girls to wear (without being too "embarassed").

Thanks again for your help -

So is it acceptable to dress as a pirate at dinner or should you change after dinner in your your pirate gear? Not knowing the rotation would hate to show up dressed "weird" as in "Did you not get the memo?".

pirate: I'm so excited! My DD12 told her friend the other day "She's been looking forward to this for months."

No fireworks on the 16th Wonder. A CM told me they would be coming soon though.

Is this just happening on the 4 night cruises or on the 3 night as well?
We have a 3 night planned for December and I am looking forward to seeing if this will be available during that time - sounds like fun!!!

Thanks for the info pirate:

We are going May 8th, we are also looking forward to the Pirate night but mainly to see the fireworks from the ship. I bet they will be beautiful...

Cyndilou-
We will be on that cruise with you!! I started a post on the cruise meets board about a year ago, but only one other person has ever responded!!!

I would also like to know if they are doing this on the 3-night cruise. I am taking my brother on a cruise in June for his 17th birthday and I'm sure he would think this is great! :teeth:

Yo-Ho, Yo-Ho A Pirates Life . . . Aboard Disney Cruise Line

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. -- (11/19/04) The new Pirates IN the Caribbean party is taking over the Disney cruise ships, transforming guests aboard into pirates for the evening and treating them to a scrumptious dinner feast and adventurously themed deck party that would make Captain Jack Sparrow proud.

This newly themed evening aboard Disney's seven-night cruise vacations to the eastern and western Caribbean brings together the traditional cruise dinner and deck party with a rowdy buccaneer bash combining invigorating entertainment, themed dining experiences and brand new special effects for an evening that's perfect for every member of the family.

Starting in the dining room, servers dressed as pirates play the part by welcoming guests with customary greetings of 'ahoy matey' and 'argh' while serving 'grog' rather than drinks. Guests delight in learning the pirate lifestyle by donning specially made pirate bandanas and choosing pirate themed dinner selections from a parchment rolled menu. Dishes from the ship's galley include:

Appetizer: Black beard's jumbo crab cake, with fruit salsa and honey-lime tropical coleslaw
Soup/Salad: Caribbean-style spicy vegetable gumbo soup and a jerk chicken salad
Entrée: The Black Pearl's oven-roasted beef tenderloin, with sour cream chive smashed potatoes, sugar-baked carrots and a deep red wine glaze
Dessert: Floating island of tropical fruit treasures -- a meringue chest filled with tropical fruit and berries surrounded by a vanilla sauce

As the evening transitions from the dining room to high atop decks 9 and 10, a treasure trove of entertainment opens with classic Disney characters dressed in pirate garb, high-energy special effects and interactive audience participation set to music favorites for a new kind of celebration.

The party gets underway with a pirate-style line dance as guests join cruise staff, Goofy and his seafaring friends in learning special dance steps set to a wacky chorus of "Yo, Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me."

Impetuously the mood of the party changes as Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and their gang of 'bad' pirates take over the party with special effects including black lighting, skull and cross bone projections and even an invasion of pirates repelling from the funnel. The music additionally changes from the contemporary/pop arrangements to a more sinister tone of a rock and roll party with hard rock classics and heavy metal tunes -- reminiscent of earlier days for the adults.

Just in time, and before Captain Hook's able to enlist audience Dads to join his gang of pirates, Captain Mickey appears and saves the day, ridding the ship of the evil buccaneers for a swash-buckling finish.

"This new themed evening takes entertainment to a whole new level," said Jim Urry, Disney Cruise Line director of entertainment. "Guests love our deck parties and this one allows them to step into the action, experience buccaneer traditions and actually be a pirate."

So with that said.... I think it's up to us DIS members to spead the News about Pirates on Board, as well as bring your buckaneer garb, polish up on your Arrgh's, Ayyys, and Savvy's... and get ready !
I have read posts mentioning folks don't know what to wear for Pirate Night. The answer is simple, either watch Pirates of the Caribbean, and get an idea, everything looks, unpressed, unwashed, black, brown, grey and white-ish! Typical travel clothes! I think every Man aboard has black pants and a T-shirt or white shirt (sans ruffles) that would be fine. Ladies...dresses, skirts, ruffly blouses, corsets, we have plenty of choices!

Hey MBW12 (Bobbie) and Cindylou01 - it's me Julie and I can't wait either for the pirates party pirate: I didn't tell my dd yet but I know she's going to flip and fireworks from the ship will make it even more exciting  (l love the dancing banana dude) I hope we all get a chance to at least meet and say hello on the cruise because it's been so much fun posting back and forth with you all.

For all "Wonder" cruisers.....as of right now, the Wonder is not equipped for the fireworks. It is my understanding that they will be incorporated shortly, but are not there yet. I just don't want anyone to be disappointed. On another note, my family just returned from a 7 night "Magic"al cruise, and the fireworks exceeded my low expectations. Off of a ship I was expecting large roman candles. But as with most everything, Disney excelled. My sister is on the Wonder right now. If I hear that they had fireworks, I'll let you know.
BTW, my DS wore his Captain Jack outfit to dinner and was the hit of the night. So put the costumes on for dinner and enjoy the entire evening. The servers really get into the whole thing too. It's a lot of fun. We even danced around the dining room.

What a blast!!!
