Pirate Night Deck Party ?

Thanks for letting us know Jay. We sat up on deck 10 and watched him signing autographs but were sure he couldn't be a CM. He did look great though. Also, thank you and your wife for keeping us company at the Palo brunch. It was really nice getting to know the two of you.

My DW and I were just talking about meeting you and your DH and how nice it was.....It was funny how after we first met we kept running into each other.....And brunch was fun wasn't it :)

We were on deck 10 with Sweetspot and thought it was alot of fun. Of course I just had to get down there and dance a little. I thought that Jack Sparrow was a guest also, seems to me we saw him at either 70's night or 80's night breakdancing on the floor. DH remember him too.

Does anyone know what date in Jan. they are starting the pirate night on the Wonder?

Just a heads up to anyone with little pirates...my dd, age 5, was not too happy when the fake lightning and very loud thunder happened as Captain Hook was making his appearance. The Disney Fear was just a little too much for her and she broke into tears.

Ooooooo....are they going to implement a Pirate night on the Wonder?? I hadn't heard that. I hope it early in January as we are on the Jan 6th Wonder. Hope it is on the 3 and 4 day sailings.

We just go back a few days ago, from the Western. The Pirate's party was great. First you go to dinner, and everyone receive a scarf at their table. The menu is cool too, and focused all on Pirate theme, i.e. Walk the Plank Chocolate Cake. the deck party is great, and their are characters there. I don't want to spoil anything, but bring your cameras!

Aside from the fella who apparently did Johnny Depp proud as Jack Sparrow, do any guests ever go dressed up (beyond an eye patch and bandana)?

If there's a set program to the party that's very specific and scripted, would I be totally out of place if I were to come dressed up as Dread Pirate Roberts from Princess Bride?

jhorstma - feel free to dress up; it'll add to the fun. We happened to be on the Halloween Cruise, so we got to wear our outfits twice.

I love the DPR idea... maybe shoot for the Andre the Giant version of the "Dwed Piwat Wobets"....

Thanks,
Paul

OK - this pirate party's got me thinking :scratchin of pulling together a Dread Pirate Roberts pirate: outfit (the boots might be a packing issue, but everything else should be straight forward). Given the marital capital this will cost (the lovely DW has a migraine now from all the eye rolling :sad2: this idea of mine caused), do you think I would be wildly out of place to come as DPR?

And any thoughts as to where I can get a good full-sized picture of Dearest Westley (sp?) as DPR?

It would be great - I could spout off lines like "I do not envy you the headache you will have when you awake. But in the meantime, rest well and dream of large women."

I'll also have to have an endless vial of iocaine powder and keep inviting people to "pour the wine". Hmm, enough battles of wits and I could end up like your Jack Sparrow from the earlier cruise.

DW's gonna kill me.

What i saw of it is
captin hook captures Mickey
and Minnie:earseek: and
goofy and dolnald have to save
them but i did not see much im kinda
short :jester:

What time is the deck party?

I'm pretty sure it start at 9:45, after second seating completes dinner.

BTW - I asked everyone in our group, and apparently I'm the only one that thought Capt. Jack was a cast member. I'm pretty clueless, I guess.

Pirates to spice up Disney cruises

Disney Cruise Line continues to reinvest in its Port Canaveral-based ships, the Wonder and the Magic.

In an attempt to offer more attractions geared to teens, the company has launched Pirates In the Caribbean, a special deck party, on the Disney Magic. In January, the company will offer the pirate-themed deck party on the Disney Wonder as well, Disney Cruise Line publicist Christi Erwin said Monday.

"The unique thing is Pirates In the Caribbean takes the traditional deck party to a new level," Erwin said. "There’s not just music and dancing. There are special effects." The attraction is a tie-in to the 2003 Disney film "Pirates of the Caribbean."

Disney Cruise Line, which has made significant investment in the ships, continues to upgrade offerings to guests, Erwin said.

"It’s all part of what the guest wants," Erwin said. "Every cruise guest fill out the comment card, and one of the things they’re looking for is new forms of entertainment. Pirates In the Caribbean is not only just a deck party, but an entire experience that starts in the dining room, with a whole new menu."

On the dinner menu for Pirates In the Caribbean is Blackbeard’s jumbo crab cake, Caribbean-style spicy vegetable gumbo soup, The Black Pearl’s oven-roasted beef tenderloin and a dessert of floating island of tropical fruit treasures.

Disney Cruise Line completed significant renovations to the Disney Wonder cruise ship in mid-October, adding three new age-specific venues that appeal to the varied interests of adults and teenagers. The company upgraded interior and exterior areas of the ship.

The enhancements to the Wonder conclude a series of investments made by Disney Cruise Line. Its sister ship, the Magic, underwent renovations a year ago.

Erwin would not disclose the cost of the renovations, nor would she discuss the possibility of adding another ship.

Disney Magic cruises for seven-night trips alternating between the Eastern and Western Caribbean. The Disney Wonder offers three- and four-night trips through the Bahamas.

The Magic will start 12 seven-night consecutive sailings from the Port of Los Angeles on May 28 that will cruise through the Mexican Riviera, stopping at Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas.

I was on the 11/6 Magic and we too enjoyed Pirate night. We got rained out and shoo'd off the dance floor. Luckily this was after the big show.

We missed the late night buffet on deck 9 (pirate night). Can anyone tell me what we missed? My sister told me there were treasure chests full of choclate coins on her cruise last year.
