I'm getting really excited about my up-coming cruise. I've read about Pirate night & it sounds great! I am wondering, can anyone tell me more about the new pirate deck party? I've heard that it's great, I just haven't heard any details about it. I CAN'T STAND THE WAIT!!! Help! Please, someone tell me what the party is like. Someone said it's a "multi-media" show. Are there clips from "Pirates of the Caribbean?" Does Mickey dance in a pirate costume? Oh, tell me please! I can't wait until January to find out!

Thanks in advance!:earsgirl:

Hmmmm?.. I havent even heard of the pirate theme deck party!! I'm thinking I should bring an eye patch with now. ;) You have me curious too now. Someone help PLEASE!!! :hyper:

Sorry, you'll have to wait.

OK, I was just kidding.

The Goofy pool gets covered up and turned into a dance floor. There's loud (really loud) music playing, and Minnie, Chip & Dale and Goofy lead the dancing. Hook, Smee and his crew take over the proceedings. One of his crew rappels down the stack onto the stage. Eventually Mickey saves the day. All of the characters are dressed as sailors.

It really was fun. They had a Capt. Jack Sparrow impersonator wandering the dance floor, which was cool. There's food all over the place, too. If you're dressed as a pirate you'll get a lot of extra attention, so bear that in mind.

thats just why i bought my DS5 a pirate costume for halloween- it can do double duty for pirate nite on the cruise:wave: (there's always a method to my madness::yes:: )

Jimbo, what cruise were you on? We saw a Captain Jack Sparrow on Halloween and again at the Deck Party but assumed he was a regular guest. We were on the 30/10 Magic.

We were on the October 30th Magic too. I think that was a cast member dressed as Jack Sparrow. He signed an autograph in my granddaughter's book, and a guest probably wouldn't have the nerve to do that.

We also talked the kids into bringing pirate costumes for Halloween, so we were dressed as pirates at the party too. It was a lot of fun.

Judging by the way he staggered through the Cove Cafe on Halloween carrying an open, half full bottle of red wine before almost falling into the pool, I kind of hope he was a guest! All I can tell you is that he was looking for Marilyn Monroe who was apparently sat outside the Cove Cafe??

Yipes! Maybe that was alll part of his act!

We also had a Jack Sparrow impersonator wandering around the deck, I thought he was a guest...maybe not!! Can't wait to tell everyone I went with. I was on the 10/23 cruise.

I think he was a guest also. Did anyone on any cruise other than 10/30 have a Jack Sparrow? He was good during that dance talent show but he did seem a bit tipsy.

We read so much about how great Pirates Night was and I think in the end we were disappointed expecting much more. It was a really good deck party and better than what I had seen in years past. Lots of very loud music, line dancing on the covered pool and the entertainment staff dancing and some character appearances.

It was fun, but you're right, people shouldn't expect much more than that. One thing that was cool is that the menus at dinner looked like colorful treasure maps. They were rolled up and on crinkly paper. They make a nice souvenir.

I shall just have to cruise again to see if "Captain Jack" is there or not. Tee hee.

OK - this pirate party's got me thinking :scratchin of pulling together a Dread Pirate Roberts pirate: outfit (the boots might be a packing issue, but everything else should be straight forward). Given the marital capital this will cost (the lovely DW has a migraine now from all the eye rolling :sad2: this idea of mine caused), do you think I would be wildly out of place to come as DPR?

And any thoughts as to where I can get a good full-sized picture of Dearest Westley (sp?) as DPR?

The Jack Sparrow on the 10/30 cruise was a guest.....I was also on the cruise and talked to him after the Halloween Party. His sister was dressed as Lucy from I love Lucy....To say he was a bit tipsy would be a understatement. :)

Yes, it replaced the Tropical deck party on the Magic all the time. On the Eastern I believe that was Tuesday after you leave St. Marteen. On the Eastern it is Wednesday night.

Thank you. I did think he was a bit too inebriated to be a CM. But does this mean that I don't have any excuse to go on another cruise soon?

Thanks for letting us know Jay. We sat up on deck 10 and watched him signing autographs but were sure he couldn't be a CM. He did look great though. Also, thank you and your wife for keeping us company at the Palo brunch. It was really nice getting to know the two of you.

Jimbo, you should have seen my face when I read your first post! HA! Nice one!
As usual, thanks for all of the great feedback! I am excited to attend the pirate deck party. Now, if I could just find myself a parrot......:earsgirl:
