Our Pirate Night is our Castaway Cay day. If our kid does the pirate makeover at 6:30 will we be missing anything fun during that time? We have late dining. Our only other option would be 3.

I would do the 3:00 just for the fact you will be paying for them to wear the makeup for less then 3ish hours if you do the 6:30. So they will have makeup for the fireworks/ show and dinner only. If they do the earlier they can walk around and get more pictures with characters and enjoy it longer. But that’s just my two cents

I agree with Capitalangel. I would go for the 3:00 time. My daughter had her appointment about the time, and it was fun to meet with the characters in her costume.

This is a great experience. Happy Sailing!

Thanks for the feedback, was just afraid leaving Castaway at 3 would be too early.

How long do the pirate makeovers take? Thinking this might be a fun extra for my boys on our upcoming cruise, but the little one gets squirmy after a bit. Are the characters that meet that day in pirate costumes all day, or just in the evenings?

If you're getting off the ship right away, you'll probably be ready to come back around 2 or so, IMO.

I would just skip the BBB pirate makeover, especially if the kids don't know about it. I wouldn't want to rush back to the ship from Castaway Cay as it is a major part of the cruise. In order to make a 3pm ressie you would need to leave in time to get back and have the kiddos take a bath and then you would also be rushed to get yourselves ready. I would just invest in a nice costume that you bring yourself. If you want the Disney pirate costume, I would get on Poshmark or Ebay and get it for a fraction of the price.

Our kiddo's pirate makeover took about 25 minutes or so.

How old is your kiddo? Mine is 9 (almost 10) and in October we were back on board by 3, tired out. We did snorkeling, some other swimming, walking around, lunch, a bike ride, some turns on pelican plunge, and then hit the gift shop. All aboard was 4 anyway IIRC, but we wouldn't have been able to make it until then.

I'd go with the 3pm; it's really very elaborate and awesome, and would be a shame not to get a bit more time out of the look. The Captain Jack on our cruise was also fantastic with the kids who came to meet him in costume.

I know you have made your decision but chiming in with what others said, we tired out of Castaway quicker than we thought we would. Don't get me wrong, it is FABULOUS but we go there early (like had the second family beach to ourselves) and between swimming, taking a walk back to the first family beach, and the sun/heat, we were tired by 1:30-2. We headed back and did the Aquaduck in a semi short line and showered up and watched the beauty from our Veranda :)
