This is part of the reason I switched to fireworks. Of course another reason may be that I'm still on level one...

I am really bad at Pirates, so I've ridden the coattails of others on Level 3
to get ice, but not very often. I stink at the game, it's a miracle I am even
past Level 3.

So I've mostly stuck with fireworks, where I've disconnected in the middle
of games I was guaranteed to win. Grrr. DoomCookie was in a game with
me where I was getting my Best.Score.Ever. Until I crashed.

I've managed to slowly get more ice, and I need about three to complete
a section of my ride room, but I want more to play with decorating the room,
too.

Wow, I just played a ton of level three games, most with complete strangers. I have only been booted from one game in the last three hours, probably from the reasons you stated.

My biggest problem is getting a game started and then ending up in the lobby, gr.

Although I confess I did this accidentally while going through the motions of start/level 3/ok - start/level 3/ok - etc. When one came up with the begin game button I just hit it out of reflex...

I have done this once myself. I was just so happy that i was able to start a game, that out of reflex i hit start...felt real bad afterward.

The 1-player games you see aren't actually being played. These are the games that are "almost" started but never really are. It's happened to me.

This has happened to me many time. Also in a few games I have started. I see the board where the names should be. And it is blank. Not even my name is in there. Giving me the feeling the computer is "thinking". Then others start telling me to start.

I do not believe anyone owes me a game. And if someone wants to play with just their friends, that is their right. Why would anyone get mad at that?

Normally I think playing with your friends would be okay. How many times have dis members here had a friendly contest with each other?
However, since the ice blocks are only going to be 'given' out for a limited time, that is why people are getting a big ticked off. Saving the friends only thing for after February would be the better thing. Too many people are trying to win ice cubes now. And, having somebody delete you or boot you from 'their' side right now is frustrating.
And, everytime somebody or the game boots you back to the lobby I get left with the 'waiting for everybody to enter' sign right smack in the middle of my screen. I didn't even know until Cape Girl told me yesterday that just playing another round of pirates would remove it. However, if I want to quit pirates right then, I have to leave VMK entirely just to lose the box. Not fun.

Wow, Cat! You definitely need a VMK break, girl! Yes, the dc's are bad today. The Pirate game rooms are almost impossible to open and I've been sent back to the lobby many, many times. I will only wait so long for someone to jump in. Then I hit the start button. I don't boot red team members, only blue. I've lost only 2 level 3 games in 3 days, both to actual players on the blue team. So, no more of that for me! LOL Another reason is the fact that with 8 players, 4 will lose their ice. Not fun.
So, please don't be too quick to judge what you think you see, ok? VMK has been acting all kinds of wonky lately. I hope things are fixed soon! Took me all day to get 2 lousy blocks of ice today! LOL

I couldn't agree more!

Especially the part about everyone leaving and you ending up back in the lobby....that was not the case at all why would anyone want to leave a game they finally had a chance to play...it was a glitch!

that was happening to me alot also.

I think VMK was just really buggy yesterday and hope last night they fixed everything.

The problem stems from the fact that only level 3 gives out the ice chairs. If they could only modify this and have levels 2 and 3 give the chairs, most of these problems would go away.

I spent a lot of time yesterday trying to enter a level 3 game because the game is faster than fireworks. Many times I got taken back to the lobby, several times nothing happened and I had that "waiting for all players to enter" stuck on my screen and MANY times I got booted from the game with NO EXPLANATION! I can certainly understand friends wanting to play with friends but when you get the boot for no reason, it just doesn't seem right. I also saw several games start with only one player and yes, if this is the only level that gives out chairs, then I don't think people should try to hog the game. Again if they would give out chairs for level 2 as well, we would not have as many issues with this.

I will stick with fireworks in the evening when it is worse. I can reach level 5 each time and score above 240, 000 to get the big credits and chair. But if you happen to see me at pirates, please don't boot me!!!

I do understand everyones frustration, but I like to play alone also. Not because I don't want to play with a bunch of people but I am on dial-up and if More than me or one other player enters the game than my player gets bogged down and want move. I really enjoy playing with others but there is no point of playing if I don't contribute to the game. I have never booted anyone no would I. I always go to an empty room and start my game so as not to affend anyone. I hope I don't get bashed to bad for this and if it helps I have only been able to get in a few times and have lost each time.

I have a computer issue for the long-term that keeps me from playing any game but Ned. Is that depressing and disheartening? Yes. But I resolve to let it go. I remind myself that this is a game and if it's not fun-- walk away for a while. The Ice is not real.

Both pirates and mansion have a boot function with no rules stipulated for how to use that button. Given the absence of regulation, it is solely up to the player who starts to game to determine the nature of the teams.

And does anyone really owe anyone anything? its nice but not needed. I admit to starting many games alone because I need ice and dont have time to spend 9 minutes on a game only to lose.

celine12-- though I may or may not agree with your decisions, you are not doing anything wrong in the pirate game and you are not being selfish, regardless of what others suggest on this friendly board.

I was just reading this thread and my dd got vocally upset that someone jumped on to her L3 pirate game with her. Her timing could not have been worse. I just finished my little tirade on how selfish an act it is, having personally been booted from multiple games. Needless to say, there will be one less person pressing start with only one player. Grrrrrrr.

i was reading this thread and feeling guilty, until your comment Robin. Even before the ice reward, i would play Pirates by myself. i'm just not very good, at any of the games, and don't want someone to be stuck with me on their team. Plus, my computer jams up a lot. i like that you can play Pirates by yourself. i wish i could play the Haunted Mansion game by myself, because everytime i play with others i end up stuck in a corner somewhere turned into a zombie. It's embarrassing. As for the Fireworks game, i am completely hopeless.

There are definetely cretain courtesies we must take. I was rather happy last night becasue around 2 hours before closing not many people were on and pirates was really easy to get in to. Every lobby i went into people could start games pretty fast. I've defientely seen more people take teams of 4 into the game! So it's getting quite hopeful. And when I see someone start their own game it doesn't bother me. I've done it before and to many people it's necessary in order to win! So I recommend playing at night!

Guilty as charged.....but not intentionally.

Please tell me I am not the only one with this problem. A major glitch I find with Pirates is that about every 4th or 5th game I get to start on my own, the pop-up appears where you would normally have names filled in. Instead all of the slots are blank. The first few times I went ahead and hit the start game button and I was put right into the game, most of the time alone against the computer. What I figured out is if you let it sit for about 10 seconds people can see it but you can't and the game will fill up. Not sure how that happens but I feel better now knowing I am not monopolizing a game to myself.

Also as of yesterday I noticed that it is getting easier to get into games. During peak times in the evening I found myself playing about 20-30 games in an hour which is pretty high. Most of the time a game I would start would just be with 3 people, since no one else wanted to join or were in the room to do so. My take is everyone has all the ice they need. Not me though!

Yes I noticed that too. I often played the game with two players last night. I can always use more ice.

Guess everyone is busy building their rooms lol. I was not on for 3 days building mine. Will take a break and go back to pirates. But wanted to make sure I would be on time for the competition date.(Rooms totally completed) So far so good. Now to get more ICE.
