DS seen this as I was looking through some papers for our next trip. What is anyone's thoughts on this? Was it worth it? What was the food like? Thank you!!

We went to the Pirate Dinner Adventure in May with our boys 2 and 4. They really enjoyed it. It was a bit cheesy and a little sleezy. We have also been to Dixie Stampede in Myrtle Beach. My DS4 said he liked them both. We paid an extra $5 a person, something like that, to sit in the front and get hats and beads and a greater chance to be picked to be in the show, which DH did. I thought the food was very good. They also have unlimited beer and wine, which Dixie Stampede did not have. Be careful though because they give refills quite frequently. If you arrive early they have a little buffet and show. At one point they started playing music and turned on spotlights and everyone gathered around to see what we all thought would be a show, all that happened was several waitress dressed in pirate attire came out with pizza rolls which they carried around and handed out. It was quite comical, DH and I weren't sure what to make of that. They have a little cheesy pirate museum which my guys loved and of course lots of opportunities for you to spend your money, pictures, gift shop, etc. All in all it was a good time, not sure if we will do it again or not. I'm sure we could be easily talked into it.

The Pirate show was fun. The food was so-so. We also paid extra to sit close... probably worth it. The kids had fun, but be prepared to be begged for LOTS of extras!! They had lots of little shops in the foyer and face painting (this is where they hold everyone & have the 'free appetisers' before the show so you can't just skip it). The show was loud but they 'enlisted' the kids to take part... some were pirates some soldiers but almost every kid in the place took part. It was fun, once, but I don't think we'd spring for it again.

We have also done "Midevil Times". I enjoyed it more than the Pirates. Food was a little better. The show was more elaborate... and longer. It was somewhat disconcerting to have horses running right in front of your plate... so although we paid extra for the front row I might think twice about doing that again. We will go again. It was great fun...

Both places will recognize birthdays, anniversaries etc. during the show. At MT if you go early (a good idea at either place) you can pay extra for a picutre with the King... kind of cool birthday thing.

Another thing worth mentioning is that both really crowd you in... everyone gets about 18" of seat/table space. Which is quite cozy when your neighbor isn't a friend or family member. But for an experience you can't get 'back home' it was a grand adventure. Have fun! pirate:

Thank you for the reviews. I'm still trying to convince my son to go w/ Hoop-Dee-Do or a simple meal at Rainforest Cafe.

The Pirate show is on restaurant.com for a $25.00 certificate. Mousesavers has a 50% off code for Restaurants.com if you think you are going to go it will at least pay for one admission.

With the coupon code you should get $25.00 worth of credit there for 5 or 6 dollars.

The food at Pirates was inedible when I went there and the free wine was plonk but after a few glasses it didn't seem to matter. The story was disjointed and the actors had obviously studied at Captain Cardboard's School of Drama - their performances were stiff and lifeless. Some of the pirates were really HOT though and made very good eye candy. The set is a beautifully elaborate pirate's ship; however, it is too elaborate and hinders the production due to the detail. It also smells rather funky due to the water surrounding the ship. Kids will like the participation aspect and pirate theming but I would say there are definitely better places to spend you money on vacation.

My 3 kids and I went to the show compliments of GKTW, Lets say we had no clue as to what was going on had to keep asking people working there. Appetizers were HORRIBLE , also NO drinks I ordered 3 soda and then was told it costed $8.00 had i known we could have waited till the meal. I couldnt or my kids tell you what the storyline was to the show too much people running around , the plot jumped around , they threw in audience particpation 2 kids had fun one returned to me running and crying they were mean to him. The food was so-so I can make my own better. Afterwards they said join for a party and everyone was leaving,LOL guess i wasnt the only one in a hurry to get out. Yes there was some pretty nice looking pirates as one said for eye candy but that was about it. Then to top the night the one that brought the food to us asked for outrageous tips she didnt get because not once did she speak to me except to ask chicken or whatever that was the rest was eating ., Anyways I would DEFINETELY recommend the Rainforest any day over that show . We ate at the Rainforest and will never forget it was the BEST !!!!! Food was excellent ,atomsphere, and server was sweetheart...
