Has anyone done this cruise? Do we get a discount as DVC members? This sounds like something my 5 year old will enjoy.

We've done it.

To the best of my knowledge there is no DVC discount (and no need to discount! This one fills every time and fills fast with people paying full price). If you want to do it, call as soon as reservations can be made. They need to be secured with a credit card (this isn't quite like Cindy's where you need to be on the phone at 7:00 am, but do call early in your window).

It is a little expensive (but, in my mind, worth it - but it really depends on how you value your dollar). The kids had a great time (mine are four and five). We took them over to the marina and they put on lifejackets and bandannas. They got on a pontoon boat with several (three?) Disney CMs and we went to breakfast. There were 24 "pirates" in total. They will pair up - and most kids seemed to have come with a friend or sibling, but they will pair him up if he doesn't.

Two hours later we picked them up at the marina. The were both clutching a bag lunch (peanut butter sandwiches, rice crispy bars, juice boxes) and another bag of "booty" (rings, necklaces, plastic bugs, a spyglass, an eyepatch, etc). They had a great time finding their treasure (although the story we've gotten is somewhat patchy).

UGH... Why does every kids activity have to include PB & J?
I think my girls woudl love thsi, but I can't picture myself putiing my peanut allergic child on a boat full of kids eating the stuff.
There are a few things at WDw that I woudln't feel comfotabel with liek the tea party, too. Bummer.
Now my other duaghter just developed an allergy to milk. WDw has always been fab about the peanut allegy, but I'm dreading the milk thing!
So long Dole Whips and Mickey bars.... :(
Maybe one day I'll call about the kids programs and see what they say.

We were just discussing this the other day! DS really wants to go on the pirate cruise next time. He HATES PB&J! Will not go near it and I wanted to know if he could get something else instead. I was surprised that's what they offer when it's seems there are so many kids with peanut allergies! It seems really unfair that the kids with alleriges can't participate.

My two boys (ages 4 & 6) LOVED the Pirate Cruise. I think I remember them asking about allergies and having an alternate choice. They are very flexible with that stuff.

Don't be discouraged by food allergies in trying the Pirate cruise or the Wonderland Tea Party! My son has a peanut allergy and he went on the Pirate cruise and had a great time! When making the reservation, stress the allergy....they will note it on the reservation, the day before the cruise...call again...they will connect you directly to the people handling the pirate cruise at the GF. They were so great to us...I reminded them again,. and we requested a cheese sandwich. On arrival at the dock...I once again made sure they knew about his food allergy...they gave him a special wrist band to wear so that they would remember. They treated him great!!!! I am so glad that they can accomodate him becasue he loved the Pirate cruise and wants to do it again!!!!

My daughter has a dairy allergy. I did the same thing for the Tea party...mentioned it when I made the ressie, than called again the day before her Tea party. Upon arrival at the check-in desk, I mentioned it again....they had her chair set up at the end of the table in a "special" spot, so that they would remember.....she wound up sitting next to Alice at the Tea party! (glad the food allergy worked to her advantage in this situation!!!v LOL!) They also took very special care of my daughter at the Ice Cream social...by making her a special sundae with Rice Dream! (non-dairy frozen treat!!!!)

I have found WDW VERY accomodating to both of my children with their allergies!!!!!! You just need to stress when making the Ps...and call again the day before as a reminder and remind them again upon check in!!!!

mbw12, bless you! I just saw your PM and I'm about to pm you back! I was so happy to read that they fixed her a non dairy frozen treat! YIPPEE! The peanut allergy si hard since it is so life threatening, but I was still able to find foods for her. But the milk! OMG, it is in everything!

wdwstar - if you find that info on the dinner pirate cruise - let us know. I called the dining number and they knew nothing about it. I looked around on a couple of other boards, but didn't see anything about it. I'd love to try it on our April trip if it isn't crazy expensive....

Thanks!

It's a magical gathering Grand Adventure (must be 8 or more guests, we aren't so I posted on the theme park board and we picked up another family to make our gathering). I believe it cost us about $200 for 5 adults, 3 children. There is app., drinks and desserts at the Cont. before the boat, Captian Hook and Shmee on the boat, trivia on the way to see Wishes, the Peter Pan story read on the way back with each child getting a HC book. Than PP meets you at the dock for pics and autographs.

We go in 23 days, so I can tell you first hand after that. The above is the description I was given

Sandy

FYI - the Children's Pirate Cruise will cancel for bad weather and they DO NOT CALL YOU. We went to the GF twice and were cancelled due to wind. I recommend calling before you treck over if there is any question.
