Hi! I am not sure which thread to post this on, but I am looking for information about the Pirate Cruise. I think it departs from the Grand Floridian and is especially designed for children. I have seen only small glimpses of information about this cruise and cannot find anything about it on the official Disney site. Can anyone give me more information? How long is the cruise? What happens on the cruise? From where does it leave? What ages would you recommend? Cost? Is it worth the effort?

Also, while I am asking- can anyone tell me anything about the children's safari at AKL? I understand there is a sunset safari and a sunrise safari? Is one better for kids? Any information would be appreciated! Thank you!

Please let me know if there is a different thread I should be posting these questions on!

You may have more success at the theme park thread. We did the pirate cruise Aug/06. This is what I kind of remember about it. So this may not all be accurate. It departed from the GF I believe at 9:30. It was for around two hours. I think the child has to be at least 4 and potty trained to go on it. The kids went on a boat (we thought it would be a pirate ship, but its not)to different places around the Disney World property looking for treasure. They were served a pb&j with a drink for lunch. If I am not mistaken for my two DS6 DD5 it was around $50. My two thought it was kind of hokey. From what I have read on here, most kids seem to love it though. Good luck in your search for more info.:thumbsup2

Thank you so much! That link was extremely helpful! Have your kids ever done this? Did they like it?

Do you know anything about the safari?

We have never travelled with young ones yet, only older teens. We have a grandson that is 10 mos. (We have already got him a 10 day no- exp. ticket) and another one about to be born by my other daughter. So it looks like the Pirate cruise will be part of our future someday. We have not done the Safari.

we have done the pirate cruise, yes my kids had a lot of fun. everything the above poster said was pretty much what i remeber too.

My daughter (8) and nephew (9) did this in August. The cruise was around 2 hours from the GF. It is actually from the marina where the boat rentals are--not near Narcoosees (the CM in the lobby gave us the wrong directions). Reservations are guaranteed with a credit card and they do charge it that day. You sign the receipt when you check your kid(s) in and you need the receipt to pick them up. The kids had a blast and my nephew actually 'found' the treasure. They also made friends with other kids who were staying at the Polynesian like we were so they got together later to play in the pool.

The two hours of solitude for me was priceless! :lmao:
