My boys will be almost 5 when we go to Disney. I would love to book them on one of the pirate cruises. My concern is that since they will not be with DH and I they will get scared and want off the boat. Ryan is very shy especially around people he does not know. Or what would happen if we signed up then got there with them and they would not get on the boat. Anyone experience something like this with kids?

I wondered the same thing about my sons. They get scared easily...Guess better not if you are in doubt. Would be interesting to hear from someone else who has done it.

Hi, I'm a newbie here. Could someone tell me what the pirate cruise is, where it leaves from, do you need reservations, etc? We will be going to WDW in May with DS (4) and he absolutely loves pirates. I was so disappointed to read that the Pirates of the Caribbean ride will be closed when we are there. But if we could do a pirate cruise, he would love that!

Thanks!

ETA: Never mind, I just saw another thread with the info and a link. Guess I need to read further before I post next time!

was just wondering if anyone's son has tried the new Pirate Cruise at CBR. Is it worth the $30? I thought this would be something nice for my DS-7 and DS-4 to do together and for me and the DH to get a little private time to ourselves.

Theres a cruise at CBR? huh you learn something new everyday.

My son did it by himself when he was 5 and had a ball. The CMs are great and know how to put the kids at ease. Though my son is pretty outgoing.

Is it worth $30? I think its the best bargain at WDW!!!!!

DS was 4 for his first cruise. He was by himself, and he is shy, so we thought perhaps he would balk. Boy, were we wrong! He loves boats, but we are super-strict about boating safety. I think that getting to go for a boat ride WITHOUT parents was like the coolest idea ever in his eyes; made him feel very grown-up and responsible. (Of course, WDW doesn't slack on the safety aspect, but hearing it from your parents is a different thing than being able to impress a CM with how well you know the safety rules!)

That said, I'll point out that DS was a day-care kid from infancy, and had been in f/t preschool for a year by that age. He was already very used to spending time in supervised groups without a parent present, so that aspect didn't phase him at all. I suppose I could see it being an issue for 5 yo's if they have not been in daycare or school, but if they have, I think it's unlikely, especially if they are going together.
