I read somewhere (but can't remember where) about a pirate cruise in the Clearwater/St.Petes area.
Does anyone know anything about it and how I can get info. on it (ie. a website for example)?

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

We took the pirate cruise several years ago when my daughter was 5 1/2. Had a great time. It was about 2 hours long and just basically sailed out and then turned around and came back. The "pirates" have several activities they do with the kids. The painted their faces to look like pirates and we bought a bandanna that she wore on her head. I would recommend it.

Thanks for all the info. on this topic. I think we might pass on this attraction. I don't like the idea that they let the children hold pretend pistols (saw a pic on their web site) and also that there are unlimited alcohol drinks included. That kind of turns me off.

Thanks again thought for your opinions on this.

There is also one at Hubbard's Marina at Johns Pass in Madiera Beach, never been on it but it is probably about the same as the Clearwater Beach one. Hubbard's also has shell cruises and dolphin cruises.

Our family took the Pirates cruise at www.johnspass.com and had a blast. It probably lasted about 2 hours. They had lots of fun things for the kids to do with music, water gun fights, hidden treasure, story telling and sing alongs for the family. I would highy recommend it to any family.

Sounds like fun. I think my DS would have a blast. Literally...with those water guns!

So we have decided to do one of these cruises but not sure which one ( http://www.captmemo.com/ or www.johnspass.com ).
They both look great but not sure which would be best. We are staying in the Siesta Key area so the johns pass one looks to be a little closer but other then that I can't figure out which one?

Any suggestions please on which one you prefer? pirate:

Also, for those who have done one, how long ahead do you have to book it? Ideally, we would like to watch the weather and book it for a warm afternoon, therefore, book it a day or two in advance if possible. We will be going sometime inthe last two weeks of December.
Thank you

We did the one in Clearwater Beach. Based on the St Johns Pass website they look about the same. The kids enjoyed it quite a bit. They played musical chairs and had their faces painted like pirates. They got to run around shooting water pistols and later got rubber swords to keep and some pirate treasure. There was music and free beer and pop.

Every once in a while ds asks if we will do it again. I have no plans to do it again. Even though the kids had fun, I found it kind of expensive and I personally did not find it too interesting. I also tend to agree with you that having free unlimited alcohol available on what is essentially an activity targeted towards children is a little odd. Though certainly nothing got out of hand, there were plenty of people who were trying to drink their money's worth in beer.

We booked our cruise in the morning for an early afternoon cruise around springbreak time so it shouldn't be a problem for you to book relatively last minute.

Thanks for the info. I think we will book the Johns Pass one since it is a little closer to where are staying (Siesta Key) plus a little less expensive.

To anyone who has done the Johns Pass pirate cruise: were the kdis given any "treasure" at the end of the cruise? If so, do you remember what it was????

Thank you
Suzy V
