DW and I are thinking of sending our DS5 on the Pirate Cruise. If you sent your DS/DD on the cruise how old were they? Our DS is adventurous and wouldn't think anthing of us not being there. We (DW that is!) are just nervous to send him alone.

The first time my son went he was 5. He had a great time. Michelle

Our DS was four (almost 5) when he went on the cruise. He was with his sister (8) at the time. The cast members take excellent care of the kids and you are provided with a pager.

I wouldn't worry.... our DS had a blast.

Our DD was 4 last year when she went. ditto to what highland said, she had a blast also!!

double the powder and shorten the fuse

POFQ Sept 06 :bounce:

We didn't know about these activities until last year when our kids were 0 and 6. Since then they have done the pirate cruise, cooking class, and albatross cruise.

As soon as our youngest turns four I will let him go with his brother who will then be ten.

DD's 4 and 6 went this past May. They had a blast. My little one is quite a handful and i was a bit nervous, but she did awesome! There were 3 adult wenches that kept the little pirates in line. They sang songs, lunch, and found treasure. Each child had a buddy to pair up with. Parents were all given pagers in case they were needed. Make sure you keep your receipt, you will need it to pick up your child.

DD 7, DS4 when they went on the cruuse. I would send either of the alone again, no problem! See picture below - this is right before they boarded...

DS was 6 when we went, and I was a bit worried as he is an 'only'.

However, the CM's are just brilliant and made sure all the singles were paired up. DS made loads of new friends and had a blast.

AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh pirate:

My son went on the Grand Floridian pirate cruise when a few months after turning 4, he had such a blast (and we enjoyed the little break) that he is doing the Albatross next month 2 weeks after turning 5. He's SO excited!

My kids did the pirate cruise and the next year the albatross cruise. My kids loved the pirate cruise but thought the albatross cruise was even better. Your son will love it!

bit off the orignal post topic - but how old is too old for the cruise, my son is 8 and I notice alot of 4 and 5 year olds going :confused3

My son is 8, my friends children are 8 & 10 and they are doing the cruise this time. We are doing the one at the CBR this time.

Tell your wife not to worry about anything. I gave this to our granddaughter as a Christmas present when she was 6-1/2 years old. She absolutely loved it. Her mother, my daughter-in-law, was a bundle of nerves. Until she saw how Disney does it. She visably relaxed.

Your son will be outfitted with a life jacket. You choose the jacket but the Cast Member will check the fit before he boards. They will be given something with their name on it (we did the Grand Floridian one and it was a Mickey earred bandana with a stick on label with the name). That way, the Cast Member can call each child by name. You will be given a pager and a receipt when you check him in. You will need both to get him back. They do check those things very carefully. Your son will NOT be alone. He will be paired up with another child of the same age/sex depending on the cruise. They will be buddies and if it's anything like my granddaughter did, they become buddies on the cruise.

You can see the boarding very easily. Great photo moments. You can see the unboarding very easily. One word of caution - make sure your son goes to the bathroom before boarding. I don't think pirates have bathrooms where they are going.

My daughter-in-law was so nervous about this whole thing but as the boat pulled out she turned to me and said "leave it to Disney to do things right".

Eight is perfect. The cruise is limited to kids 4-10. Eight would be great.
