Has anyone ever been to these dinner shows? My son loves knights and pirates so I thought this would be fun. Any reviews would be greatly appreciated!

I've neevr been but restaurant.com has them and if you use coupon code 39109 today you can get a 60% discount.

We loved them both. They each have a very different feel. Dixie Stampede is very homey feeling and pirates is more dark and I thought it was a little sleezy feeling. My DH didn't really think so, but he may have just preferred the pirate wenches to the southern belles. LOL! We didn't do Medevil Times because there is on close to us, although we still haven't gone. I asked DS4 which show he liked best and he said he loved them both. The food was good a both. At pirates they have unlimited beer and wine which they fill up as soon as you glass starts to go down, so be careful. We paid a little extra to sit on the front row and get hats and beads. I can send you some pictures if you like or if you have and specific questions let me know. Have fun!

I would love to see pictures! DS said he would like to see the Pirate show, I gave him the choice.

I think that Pirates will give you a 50% discount with a military ID.

Orlando Dinner Theater roundup:

We went to the Pirates show last month, and it was a lot of fun. my only complaint was that if you don't sit in front (we were nearer the back) it can be quite dark while you are trying to eat! The entertainment and food were the best of any of the 3 dinner theaters I have tried.

Dixie Stampede was fun, but I was hungry by the time I left. Not enough food.

And Medieval Times, when I went, was so-so entertainment and the food was awful.

I have not been to Arabian Nights, but I haven't heard very good reviews of it.

There are several other area dinner theaters (Mystery Sleuths, Soulfire), but I haven't been to them yet.

I wanted to add what I have learned since we are going to Orlando in two days. We opted out of the Pirates show. From what I have read at epinions, tripadvisor, and heard from our travel agent, Pirates and Arabian Nights have been the most disappointing of the shows. Deplorable conditions, poor lighting, below average (even for dinner theatre) food, TERRIBLE service. With a so-so show. Arabian Nights was not as bad in those areas mentioned, but the show was lacking.

However, I have been to medievil times in Orlando three times. I was quite entertained each time. I went to the one in Chicago and Dallas... both also good. The food is some of the best for mass produced. As stated about Pirates, the biggest let-down I read about -repeatedly- was the lack of good service. Seems you just get lucky with your server there... While medievil times servers do ask for tips, they do it politely, and they work their tail off the entire night. Each time, I have gotten free refills on beer when they say you only get one. That is every show I attended - totalling five.

Now I will say this, those with kids --My wife (25) me (31) with no kids-- seem to have better things to say about the Pirates show than those without.

I can safely bet you and your son *will* really enjoy MT's... but according to what I read, you and your son *may* enjoy PA. And since he likes Knights, he will definately like MT.

You also get some cool little tours at MT's. Torture chamber -not too bad for the kids- which is really the devices they used to use. And you get to see some old armorsmithing techniques and leather/word working. This could have been at the chicago show -- they run together after a while. ;)

We chose to attend Sleuth's and the Luau at Sea World this time as well as La Nouba. But as stated we don't have kids. I was disappointed really though... I would love to see pirates... With limited time, I could not risk a so-so show when so many other things are available.

HTH's

BTW, since I am new here...what does all these accronyms mean: DS, SO, DS4, etc.. I tried to find a FAQ...

DS - Devoted/Darling Son (works for DW (wife) DH (husband) DD (daughter), etc)
SO - I think it's Significant Other
DS4 - same devoted son, he's four years old. :)

Ahh - makes more sense - I was trying to get Disney in there with all those D's. Thanks.
