There are boards I follow while not following individual people.
I clicked on the board I wanted to follow, and clicked "follow" at the top of the board. New pins show up in your main page just like all other pins.
If you are already following a person and don't want to follow specific boards, simply click on that board specifically and click the unfollow button at the top of the board.
I have a friend that has some very different interests than I do. I didn't enjoy all of the pins she posted, and there were a lot, but loved her other boards. I just unfollowed that board.
Oh, I don't use that main board. My bookmark is set to the "Everything" board, as I get to scroll down and see a whole assortment of stuff by everyone that way, than just the few people or topics I follow. As someone mentioned, people usually don't list their pins according to searchable topics. Some people don't list things in categories at all. Scrolling the "Everything" board gives a nice overview of everything.
Thanks, now I know where those people's individual boards are showing up.
