Pinterest help

There seems to be some bugs in the system sometimes. I have no idea why. Mine's been stuck too.

This happened to me once before and all of a sudden, my "stats" went up and it caught up with itself. :lmao:

I click to "follow" a few people, but they never show up on my list, even though I get a confirmation after clicking that I am following them. :confused3 Meanwhile, I have several other random people on the list I swear, I know I have never clicked to follow.

:headache: That has been happening to me too! I sent them an email last week asking why I keep having all these people on my "following" list that I never ever asked to follow. Great customer service, haven't heard a thing back from them.

I guess they are not "following" you. :lmao:

I eventually started bookmarking boards I want to go back to.

I'm also thinking I should just bookmark all the sites I've already pinned, as a safeguard. Pinterest ins in beta. We've already seen they have glitches. Sometimes, pages take a long time to load. I'm thinking that if the site collapses, they loose my membership, a board completely disappears, or they just shut down, I will have lost all the sites I've pinned. There are some sites, like decorating projects or recipes, I really want to have bookmarked in some way.

That's really a good idea - but of course the point of Pinterest is not to have all the bookmarks - but we'll end up with them anyway. I print a lot of things so I have a copy just in case. I will be sick though if they go down for sure.

My gf called me asking about this very thing the other day - she set up an account about 1 month ago & pinned one thing while I was showing her how it worked. She followed one person & now it shows about 20people she's following - none that she chose. She was quite alarmed by it & was thinking of deleteing the account.

Their Facebook page says they are working on issues. Search bar also temporily gone while they work on it.

They are having MAJOR growing pains with a 4000% membership increase in 6 months.

this is why I am worried about them crashing and losing half of their data and all or most of my pins. :headache: :headache: :headache: Google, they are not, with multi-millions of dollars & probably has a gazillion back up storage and redundancies for any system-wide failures.

Anyway, in the last couple of days, since I really like having VISUAL pins, I started making "pins" in my Photobucket account. I'd save the picture and have to manually copy & paste in the URL into the picture description. So I'd have these pins as back up.

Yesterday, I found out there is a Photobucket add-on for Firefox. It works just like Pinterest. I right-mouse click a button and it automatically saves the pic in my Photobucket account. I still have to manually add in the URL, but it is going a bit quicker.

I've had Photobucket for about 5 years, so I know they aren't going anywhere. :thumbsup2 I also like the fact that I can save my "pins" (bookmarks) to a private file. I am really not interested in followers, nor having everything I have researched outside of Pinterest & pinned (for myself) available so easily to be repinned by others. Sometimes I feel people need to spend the time doing their own research like I am.

I see a lot of the same pins over and over on pinterest. I pinned something brand new, from someone's blog written a couple days ago, and within the last 12 hours, it's been repinned 25 times already.

Most times I don't mind. Sometimes I even fond stuff that I do think will be interesting to others. But, sometimes, I wish Pinterest would just let me have a board of private pins. I think Photobucket is filling that slot.

I totally agree. I have made sure to copy the recipes I really want to a document and bookmark the things I would hate to lose. Most of my Pins are more for fun so if they disappear I won't be too upset.

I really like being able to have visual bookmarks. I have about 10 "ornament crafts" in my regular Firefox bookmarks. When I was looking for a specific one a couple weeks ago, I had to pretty much click on all 10 bookmarks, as the names were all very similar, to finally find the one I was looking for. :headache: Maybe, Internet providers will figure out a way to add a tiny pic with the bookmarks.

I think some of people who are new to Pinterest don't seem to understand that when you join, they assign random people that you "follow" so you will see pins when you login, and that you are following them. And they don't seem to understand that you can "un-follow" anyone you want. There was a woman who didn't seem to understand this and whenever she logged on she saw the random pins and posted under every one of them in the comments "STOP FOLLOWING ME!" Boy that got old fast. People kept trying to explain that SHE was following THEM and how to un-follow.

I've found if I click on "everything" at the top of the page and not just "pinners you follow" I find a lot of new things. I guess with so many new people on the boards only repinning stuff they find on pinterest (I am guilty of this) this means much of the same stuff pops up over and over.

I love following people who have boards with historical photos.

:lmao: That's funny. Pinterest should include some instructions. That explains the 10 extra people I was supposedly "following" when I never clicked to follow them. As far as I knew, the only person I was following was the one who sent me the invite.

Pinterest should also set the default when you click on their link to "Everything" rather than just the people you follow. It had taken me a couple days to figure that out.

Cozi (a family orgainzing website & app) is another that just has major growing pains constantly. I've been watching them, but I keep sticking with my Google Calendar & other methods of organization.

I don't know if you use Evernote, but that would be a great place to store pins & links also. They've been around long enough that I trust them. Visual, text. Sort anyway you want. I photo my current craft supplies on hand, and when I'm at the store, I can see I already own something similar to what I might have purchase. Its all synced on desktop, laptop, iphone & ipad or any other smartphone. Saves audio, photos, web slippings, GPS locations ,text & attached files & URLs. Free. Love it.

I used Evernote when re-doing my room earlier this year. Held photo ideas. Photos & links to items purchased. Dimensions of furniture. Some IKEA hack instructions. Audio notes to myself. Its all searchable. Even text in photos is searchable. :D

People use it for recipes too.

Can you "search" on pinterest?

sigh..

sigh..

Currently, the search bar is removed.
One problem I find with searching there when it does work is that people don't label their pins the way I would search them. Instead, they label "this would be great in Timmy's room". sigh

People really don't understand how to grow a useful database there.

Oh thanks. I "thought" I had searched in the past (before joining)...

I figured out how to "follow" someone. You cannot just follow one board. For some reason, the person or board doesn't show up on your list that way. :confused3 You have to click on the person's whole profile, then follow ALL their boards. :headache: But, I'd still bookmark them as a back up. I have a "Pinterest Likes" folder in my bookmarks.

Thanks. I'll look into it. :)

There are boards I follow while not following individual people. :confused3

I clicked on the board I wanted to follow, and clicked "follow" at the top of the board. New pins show up in your main page just like all other pins.

If you are already following a person and don't want to follow specific boards, simply click on that board specifically and click the unfollow button at the top of the board.

I have a friend that has some very different interests than I do. I didn't enjoy all of the pins she posted, and there were a lot, but loved her other boards. I just unfollowed that board.
