Pins Vs Other Stuff?

I keep hearing how pins are a low budget collectible. Yes every once in a while I find a pin or set of pins that I love and must own. Mechanical Kingdom for example was a winner. Most of the time though I see people spending small fortunes on pins or those little rubber mickey dolls.

It all adds up. I can not see how they would not rather have some nice art work or other wonderful collectible with a higher price tag. Lets see Marie Osmond Haunted Mansion Doll Vs 5-15 pins. Hmmm Yep Marie Osmond doll will win every time. Its something easier to display and look at. Is it just me????

I find it too easy to rack up a $100 bill at the pin stands if I look too hard but I always end up with buyers remorse.

As a pin collector I think it comes down to preference. I would rather spend money on pins than a doll - but I do also collect sketches and WDCC pieces.

Pins can be displayed nicely to be looked at just like any collectable. You can also pick up several, each commemorating a ride/park/event. So, it all comes down to preference. Just because you do not like pins or think they are worth the cost, it does not mean that others do not get as much enjoyment from that as you do from your doll.

It is not that I do not like the pins. It is quite the opposite. I just think of how they add up I guess. I was using my doll as an example. I am Haunted Mansion insane. I have always loved that ride and so that doll makes me extra batty.

I also have the minnie mouse pin for the painting in the stretching room for the ride. So yes I do buy the pins. I am learning to control myself and be super duper picky about the pins because they add up so fast.

It sounds like you do similar purchases to me. Something that has great meaning. Compared to my daughter who comes at me with a stack of about $150 worth of stitch pins and says but mom its Stitch.

I'm a little bit of a cross between you and your daughter...I buy almost any pin with Figment on it (just because it has Figment on it), but to be fair, I also buy almost anything with Figment in general!
