Pins to trade?

Can someone explain the pins to me. I've read about bringing pins to trade. Do you bring pins from your city/state/country? But something said cast members will only take ones with Disney logos. That didn't make sense to me as they have everything Disney already.

Thanks

Mary

Mary,

Ever since the year 2000 Disney has been offering collectors pins to collect and trade. The pin trading idea came from the Olympics (pin trading has been going on at the Olympics for many years) and the folks at Disney thought it would be a great idea. Well the pins caught on so well that Disney kept up the idea and Disney pin collecting and trading has become a big hobby all over the world. There are over 40,000 Disney pins that have been released world wide.

The cast members wear lanyards at the parks and on the ships. Only Disney pins can be traded. The rules about Disney pin trading can be found at www.disneypins.com.

the world of pin trading is so much fun!!

i, and my family, view pin trading as just that -- FUN! definately there is a market for those who are collectors, i just happen to not be one

that said.....

browse Ebay and find a 'lot' of pins that are official "Disney" pins and purchase prior to your trip. now you have a bundle of pins you just don't like; pin them on a lanyard and go on vacation. any CM with a lanyard (except I think green which is available for 12 y/o and younger , i'm sure i'll be corrected if wrong) is available for trade. As long as that CM doesn't already have the pin you wish to trade, they must trade you (hence, no duplicats on CM lanyards) I try to finds lots that equal $2.00 or so per pin once shipped.

note -- buy pins you don't like so trading is FUN!!!

it's my understanding that pins that are eliglble to trade have "DISNEY" stamped on the back. there are pin-trading sessions on-board. passenger-to-passenger trading is ok as long as both parties are agreeable

i find it fun to pick a theme for each trip, I have done "Mickey and Minnie" searching for more vintage-looking pins; Donald pins for the half-marathon, and in November I plan in trading for Pixar character pins

hope that is helpful -- visit the collectors board for more info
