I recently saw some lanyards for children - my first lanyards and the like - and was wondering if the kids keep them on very well? I'm pretty sure my 2 year old will not care a bit - but I am thinking of getting them for the 6 and 4 year old.

Is there a more practical place to store your trading pins? Is it nerdy if adults trade pins? I kinda want to play, too! LOL Maybe I could just wear ones for the girls?

We will also be getting the ::MinnieMo :bride:
and ::MickeyMo :groom: pins - what is the best way to wear these? Will people look on a lanyard first? Straps to the diaper bag/backpack?

Finally, I want to get a small, high-quality (acid-free) scrapbook that I can use to document our entire trip AND use for the girls to get autographs. Any recommendations on archival ink and good pens to use that will last a lifetime? I want to put photos in there as well and want it to last forever!

I can't answer the lanyard questions- however about the autograph books...-

Creative Memories- carries a 5x7 scrapbook, which is all acid free, they also carry disney stickers, paper etc... as well as the correct pens that you would need, both fine tip, and bold tip...a wide array of colors..I do not sell these products, however I have scrapped for 4 years, and can tell you the promises and guarantees this company makes are TRUE!

www.creativememories.com If you can't find someone near you, you can try a craft store, JoAnn's fabric sells scrapbooking materials etc...

Good luck

About the lanyards - the older kids WILL wear them - at least mine did. A hint - only allow them to take a few pins at a time to the parks - say maybe 5 they want to trade. It gets heavy with a lot of pins on it. Make sure YOU put the pins on the lanyard to make sure the backs are on good. My son also now has a hat he puts his pins on which might work better for the younger child. The hat he uses is a safari hat from AK - it is actually a toddler sized hat but it fit him well enough and he didn't like the larger hats.

As for adults being nerdy - my sister thought this before our last trip so she bought pins on sale at the disney store and gave them to my son. BOY was she mad when he refused to trade a CM for a Dopey pin she couldn't find to buy. She is now insisting on getting her own lanyard and pins. If you enjoy it who cares if it's nerdy - and truly EVERYONE is doing it so you wouldn't look out of place.

It also helps if you have the kids pick a "theme" for their pins. It makes it easier for them to decide whether or not they want to trade with a CM. My one DD picked tinkerbell (hard to find) and my other picked mickey (easy).

This post brings back memories of my last trip a year and a half ago. My kids had no interest in trading pins but boy did my husband have an interest. He drove all of us nuts. He stopped every 10 feet to talk to a CM and trade some pins. The kids were getting really agitated with him...lol.

The really cool thing is that he got some nice rare pins that we will leave home this time and he met lots of interesting people from all over the world. I say as an adult....DO IT!!!...you'll have fun.

Sooo - I just found out that the Disney Store no longer carries the pins! :(

I bought a nice Minnie Bride pin for myself off ebay last night - and I'm wondering if there are others I should buy as well?

Also - should I try to get the lanyards through a website, or are they plentiful at the parks? I'm particularly interested in the "My first lanyard" styles - or the Tinkerbell ones that I've seen - for the girls ;)

Creative Memories doesn't carry the 5x7 albums anymore ... instead they have 7x7 albums and a cute Disney "snap pack" which allows you to decorate an album in less than 2 hours.

They also have a 7x7 "kids' album" the Starzz Album that comes with blue pages with red jeeping ... I personally think this would make an adorable Disney auto/photograph album.
